FRSC Deploys Over 210 Personnel for Eid-El-Kabir Special Patrol in Anambra

The Anambra State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has commenced its 2026 Eid-El-Kabir special patrol operations across the state with the deployment of over 210 personnel to ensure safer roads and effective traffic management during the festive period.

The operation, which began on May 25 and is expected to end on May 31, is part of the Corps’ nationwide strategy aimed at reducing road crashes and ensuring free flow of traffic during the4 celebration.

According to the Command, the personnel deployed comprise Regular and Special Marshals who will be stationed at critical locations across the state to monitor traffic, enforce road safety regulations, and provide prompt emergency response services where necessary.

The Sector Commander, Bridget Asekhanuo, said the exercise was designed to address the expected increase in vehicular movement associated with the Eid-El-Kabir festivities.

She explained that the operation would focus on public enlightenment, traffic control, reduction of road crashes, quick clearance of obstructions on highways, and enforcement of compliance with traffic laws.

Asekhanuo disclosed that the Command had mobilised operational logistics and equipment for the exercise, including patrol vehicles, ambulances, tow trucks, motorcycles, radar guns, breathalysers, and other traffic management tools to ensure effective monitoring across the state.

She added that special attention would be given to traffic management around the Bridge Head axis in Onitsha and other major routes known for heavy vehicular activities during festive periods.

The FRSC boss further stated that the Command would clamp down on traffic offences that are major causes of road crashes, including speeding, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overloading, lane indiscipline, use of mobile phones while driving, operation of mechanically defective vehicles, and the use of expired tyres.

According to her, mobile courts would also be deployed to prosecute traffic offenders promptly, while emergency rescue4 teams have been placed on high alert to respond swiftly to accidents and other emergencies.

She noted that the Command would collaborate closely with the Nigeria Police Force, the Anambra State Traffic Management Agency, and the Ocha Brigade to4 strengthen traffic management and security operations during the celebration.

The Sector Commander urged motorists and other road users to obey traffic regulations, avoid reckless driving, and prioritise safety throughout the festive period.

She also extended Eid-El-Kabir greetings to Muslim faithful and reaffirmed the commitment of the FRSC to ensuring safer roads across Anambra State.
