Undergraduate found dead, pants, removed

An undergraduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, was on Friday found dead, and her eyes and underwear missing from her corpse found at the Commissioners’ Quarters behind the Anambra State Government House. A resident of the area, who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said, “The corpse of the 300 level student of the university was dropped by the roadside around Commissioners’ Quarters by an unknown car.” The source gave the name of the student as Pauline. He added, “The true cause of her death has not been ascertained, but the corpse has been taken away by the police “She was found dead without her underwear and eyes at a junction before Demonstration Primary and Secondary School, Commissioners’ Quarters, Awka, close to GRA Phase 3 Agu Awka, a suburb of the state capital. “This is one in many deaths recorded among students of the university. TB Joshua issues stern warning to Buhari government

Prophet TB Joshua has given a “prophetic warning” to the President Muhammadu Buhari government concerning the handling of “inconclusive elections” in the country. “The (Nigerian) government should be cautious of the way they go about inconclusive elections,” Joshua told congregants. “This can be an open door for Satan. Madam Elizabeth Okafor, a 90 year-old woman from Ebenebe community, Awka North LGA of Anambra State is crying to whoever that cares to help her locate her only stepson, Mr. Okafor Ikechukwu, who got missing since September 17th, 2013, after he was attacked with his Friends, Daniel Nwoye, Felix Nwoye, and Nonso Obiagu by villagers when they were conducting  night prayers in their house, based on the allegation  that they were planning to destroy a notable shrine in their community. Mrs Okafor said that the shrine had a gory  history of receiving human beings and twins as sacrifices before the coming of missionaries. According to her, her stepson, Okafor Ikechukwu, until the incident, was not only a well known youth activist in the community, but also a well behaved young man. The Federal Government has inaugurated the inter-ministerial Presidential Inauguration Committee with a view to coordinating activities leading to the inauguration of the president on May 29. The current governor of Imo state and the senator elect in the just concluded National Assembly election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mr Rochas Okorocha, Wednesday asked the commission to hand him over his certificate, noting that the commission cannot seize his certificate because of a mere petition against him. Okorocha made this known when some of his supporters marched to the government house to protest. Recall that INEC removed his name from the list of senators-elect who will receive their various certificates on Thursday. The commission argued that the governor was declared winner under duress. In view of the above therefore, Okorocha opined, “I wonder why INEC will withhold my certificate for a frivolous reason, without hearing from me. Feb. 23: INEC confirms irregularities in Imo polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Imo State has admitted that the presidential and national assembly elections in the state were fraught with irregularities and expressed regret over the challenges that almost marred the polls. Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC of the state, Prof. Francis Ezeonu made the commission’s position known in the state, yesterday at the Imo INEC Interactive Meeting with Stakeholders in Owerri, the state capital. Disclosing that there were a few hitches that impeded the timely deployment of materials on the Election Day to some areas, Prof. Ezeonu stressed that the meeting created a forum for the commission to review what happened on the Feb. 23 elections across the state.
