Electricity Meters to cost N3000 in Imo- Dr Albert Okorogu

By Chigozie Igbo Dr Albert Okorogu, the Pioneer DG and CEO of the newly established electricity agency, named Imo state Power & Rural Electrification Agency(I-POREA) has stated that his agency has plans at bringing down the cost of electricity meters in all the 27 LGAs of Imo to 3000(Three Thousand Naira). He made this assertion recently in his office in an interaction with select newsmen. Dr Okorogu, who was formerly the Executive Director, Networks, Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) the SPV for Nigeria National Integrated Power Projects (NIPP) said the agency is developing a simplified and affordable meter for rural dwellers in the state which will cost less than 3000, this he said will help bring power closer to the people, because his agency's mandate is to electrify Imo state. Our Culture Has Come to Stay- Orji Nwafor Orizu.

The son of the first Senate President of Nigeria, Orji Nwafor Orizu (SAN) has restated the fact that the Nigerian culture has come to stay, as culture remains the only identity of any human enclave.  He made this assertion over the weekend at his country home in Nnewi, when he received in audience a masquerade from the Igwe of Nnewi palace name Akuezu. Ndiakwu Community Gives Final Verdict on Closing of Chief Dom Nzewi's Close.

The President General of Ndiakwu community Hon Jude Osumuo, has given a verdict on the closing of a community road by Engr Onwuagha, who employed the services of miscreants to dump sand on Chief Dom Nzewi's close off Chief John Anya's street,  in anticipation to block the road giving access to over 30 families.  He said that Engr Onwuagha does not have the legal right to close such road, as it goes against the law of the community. Imo State Government To Partner With Green Fuels For Power Generation.

A delegation of investors from Green Fuels Ltd and Green Liquefied Natural Gas Ltd has met with Imo state government on the modalities for the setting up of a compressed Natural Gas (CNG) plant in Imo state. The investors who met with Imo State Government on establishing a modular and scalable CNG plant  had fruitful discussions with the Deputy Governor who represented the government. Okorocha, wife, daughter, others to forfeit assets- EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has obtained orders for the interim forfeiture of assets traced to a former Imo governor, Rochas Okorocha, and his wife. The Head, Enugu Zonal Office of the commission, Mr Usman Imam, disclosed this on Wednesday in Enugu while briefing newsmen on the activities of the commission in the last eight months. Imam said that the commission also obtained similar order on a property traced to a former aide to Okorocha, Mr Paschal Obi, and the former governor’s daughter. He said that the commission had established prima facie cases against the suspects which they would answer to. Imam said that the commission would like to know how the Rochas Foundation and other accomplices acquired or converted some of the property for personal use. He listed some of the property to include a 16-block cum 96 flats and an eight-bungalow multimillion naira estate, hotel, two schools, shopping plaza, supermarket, hospital and four vehicles.

Breaking News: No Mosque was demolished in Rivers state – Northern Group Youths.

The Coalition of Northern Youth Groups has said that the recent allegations that the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike ordered the demolition of a mosque in Portharcourt were “falsehood” orchestrated by politicians to “fan the furnace of ethnic, religious or regional division just for self-serving and fiendish gains”. In a statement made available to journalists in Kaduna, National Convener of the group, Mohammed Sanni said from available statistics, the Rivers state governor is more tolerant of other religions than most of those accusing him of intolerance. According to him, “the Governor of Rivers State – Chief Nyesom Wike is a very good friend of the North and a brother to the Muslim community” adding that it is mischievous for anybody to run to alter the narrative. Ihedioha Orders Arrest of Rochas Okorocha

Imo state government on Thursday ordered a citizen’s arrest against Sen. Rochas Okorocha, over alleged assault on a government official, Mr Jasper Ndubuaku. The Secretary to State Government (SSG), Mr Uche Onyeaguocha, gave the order after the Chairman of the Recovery of Government Properties, Mr Jasper Ndubuaku, was allegedly assaulted at Okorocha’s residence. Onyeaguocha said that the state had also placed Okorocha on security watch and urged Imo citizens to arrest him and alert the government whenever they found him in the state. News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a video, trending online on Thursday, captured some thugs beating Ndubuaku at Okorocha’s residence on Spibatt Avenue, Owerri. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Rabiu Ladodo, and SSG confirmed the incident to newsmen at a joint news briefing in Owerri.
