IKEDURU LGA FINDS SUCCOUR IN DR. OBIYO'S DONATIONS AS COVID-19 BITES

Samuel-Mary & Dame Emily Obiyo Foundation which is for charity, has personal protective equipment to indigent men and women in Imo State, especially those from Ikeduru LGA to protect them from the ravages of coronavirus. Other items generously  shared were packs and bags of rice, noodles, beans, salt, etc, all of immense quantity, with high quality. The donation occasion, held Friday May 8, 2020 at Ugiri-ike, Nneise in Ikeduru LGA of Imo State the country home of the president of the foundation Dr. Uzoma Obiyo, witnessed massive attendance and has been adjudged unprecedented. Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma, speaking on the occasion, lauded the President of the Foundation for his initiation, stating that it complements the state government's efforts very well. Breaking: Supreme-Court voids Ex-Gov Kalu’s conviction, 12-year jail term

The Supreme Court, on Friday, quashed the judgement that convicted and sentenced the former governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor-Kalu, to 12 years imprisonment. The apex court, in a unanimous decision by a seven-man panel of Justices led by Justice Amina Augie, held that the Federal High Court in Lagos acted without jurisdiction when it convicted Kalu, his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited and former Director of Finance in Abia State, Jones Udeogu. It held that trial Justice Mohammed Liman was no longer a judge of the Federal High Court as at the time he sat and delivered the judgement that convicted the defendants for allegedly stealing about N7.1billion from Abia state treasury. According to the Supreme Court, Justice Liman, having been elevated to the Court of Appeal before then, lacked the powers to return to sit as a High Court Judge. Covid19: Anambra testing centres in the pipeline- Prof Anthony Igwegbe.

The Chief Medical Director of Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital NAUTH, Nnewi has hinted of measures been put in place for NCDC to approve  a standard testing centre in Anambra state, with the option of Awka and Nnewi  viewed as the possible centres. He made this disclosure earlier this week while interacting with newsmen in his office. He stated that the state government, led by Chief Willie Obiano has shown genuine desire to stop the virus from spreading, through the proactive measures put in place to help cut the virus off. He said that the testing centre which is expected must have a biosafety level of at least grade 3, as specified by NCDC. He was happy to note that, the NCDC standard of testing is higher than that of other countries, because the test goes through a rigorous process, which ensures 100% accuracy all the time. Imo Govt Bursts, Rubber Estate Syndicate

The Imo State government has busted a syndicate running the Imo Rubber Estate which has deprived the state of revenue for over 20 years. It vowed to recover the estate, the biggest in South East Nigeria from these economic saboteurs. The Imo Rubber Estate is located on a large landmass in Emeabiam Community in Owerri West LGA of Imo State. The Estate had been taken over by some unscrupulous persons, who hijacked proceeds of the estate for personal use to the detriment of successive State governments. Recently, a gang that specialized in the stealing of rubber lumps at the estate were arrested and detained by the Police at the Nekede/Ihiagwa Police Station, with a lorry loaded with rubber logs. FRCN Presenter still in Kidnappers Den.

The  Good Morning Radio Nigeria, Pacesetter FM, on air presenter , Chinenye Iwuoha,  Kingsley Onyegbule the GM's driver  with Nnamdi Egwuagu of the Engineering unit, who were attacked by gun men, at about 08:50 pm on Monday are still in the Kidnappers Den 72hrs after their kidnap with a ransom of 20 Million being demanded by the Kidnappers to release Chinenye Iwuoha. We gathered that Kingsley onyegbule was shot on the belly and Chinenye Iwuoha was kidnapped, and taken to an unknown destination since then. GM's laptop and phone were also taken. As at Wednesday , the driver has been stable, after undergoing surgery that lasted for about six hours. As at Tuesday morning the Commissioner of Police in Abia said the command has not been informed of the incident .

COVID 19 PALLIATIVES: UDI LGA SCORE CARD.

The special assistant to the Executive Governor of Enugu state, on Special Duties, Prince Emma Efoke has visited the Executive Chairman of Udi local government council, Hon. Ifeanyi Pascal Agu to ascertain progress, on the distribution of covid 19 palliatives to the people of UDI LGA, as a result of the lockdown, by Enugu state government based on the advise by NCDC. Hon. Ifeanyi Agu, used the visit of the special assistant to inform the people of Udi LGA of his post covid 19 plans to reintegrate the people back into the economy, because of the heavy toll, the corona virus pandemic has left the world in. The Chairman stressed that the distribution of palliatives in UDI LGA, is to support the candid effort's of His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on the Palliative Scheme, his government instituted for Ndi Enugu, towards alleviating the difficulties associated with the COVID-19 lockdown, and also way of supporting the needy within and after this trying period.
