Appeal Court Enugu Adjourns Ruling Between Ozigbo, Uba case.

The Court of Appeal Enugu Division has today, Wednesday, August 25, 2021, adjourned its ruling on the appeal brought before it by Mr Valentine Ozigbo and the Peoples Democratic Party against Senator Ugochukwu Uba & two others.   Recall that on July 5, 2021, Senator Ugochukwu Uba, who did not participate in the PDP primary, instituted a suit against the PDP, its candidate, Valentine Ozigbo and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), wherein he challenged Ozigbo’s candidature for the November 6, 2021 governorship election. Barely 24 hours after Senator Uba instituted the suit, Justice Nwabunike curiously granted an ex parte injunction restraining INEC from carrying out their constitutional duty and also abridged the time within which the Defendants are legally obliged to file their defence from 42 days to only 3 days in violation of Order 16 Rule 1(2) of the Anambra State High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019. Despite the apparent hardship created by this strange ex p

Gov. Hope Uzodimma is shouldering the Burden of Recklessness from Past Administrations

It is easy to argue that a new Government inherits assets and liabilities. While we accept that government is a continuum, by no means should any responsibleGov. Hope Uzodimma is shouldering the Burden of Recklessness from Past Administrations  administration accept without any form of recourse or examination the reckless actions deliberately done by previous administrations especially that of Rochas Okorocha that was characterized by serial abuse of power and zero Respect for court rulings. The ensuing imbroglio in the state between Independent Petroleum marketers and the state government is another of the myriad problems created by Okorocha for the Imo State Government, and as at today, Imolites are bearing the brunt. This is wickedness and when we condemn the person of Okorocha and the style of his administration, it is from a broken heart. Before you rush to condemn Gov. Hope Uzodimma and his administration probably from what you think, as not taking prompt action, it is expedient

(L - R) PDP's Former Vice Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi; Papal Nuncio to Nigeria, Antonio Guido Filipazzi and Governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi at the 2nd Plenary of Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria holding in Enugu. The Vice Presidential Candidate of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, in 2019 elections, Mr Peter Obi, has urged the bishops, and by extension the leaders of the church, not to relent or be discouraged in constantly speaking out against the societal ills in the nation which, he said, are getting worse by the day.  Obi said this while addressing journalists after the Opening Mass for 2nd Plenary of Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria held at Enugu. He explained that the challenges facing the nation were as a result of bad leadership which has fettered the nation over the years. Obi lamented that the leadership recruitment process in the country is faulty and has continued to produce political leaders who are not leading the country to the ri

PDP CREATED IMO PROBLEMS- IMO GOVT

Imo State Government yesterday dismissed as "infantile idiocy", allegations by the opposition PDP that Governor Hope Uzodinma has achieved nothing 18 months after he assumed office. It said only a blind man and those livid with jealousy and fixated with blackmail would fail to recognize the laudable achievements of the governor in the state. Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon Declan Emelumba while reacting to a clip of a recent interview the PDP new media held with Osiza FM which was circulated in the social media,  noted that although most of the problems of the state were created by the opposition party which ruled the state for 13 years in this dispensation, Uzodinma has worked closely very hard to get the state working again. He said it was a barefaced lie and antiquated propaganda for PDP to claim that Imo has the worst road network, based on an unverified report of an online publication, whereas Uzodinma has built 46 roads and still counting. According to hi

Imo Goverment Asks Petroleum Marketers not to embark on there proposed strike.

Imo state government through it's Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon Declan Emelumba has asked petrolatum marketers in the state to sheathe the sword on their proposed planned strike. In a press release signed by the Commissioner, reads thus" Imo state government is aware of the plan by petroleum marketers in the state to embark upon a strike action from tomorrow, Tuesday, August 24, 2021.  Their grouse is an alleged refusal of the state government to obey a court judgment on payment of compensation to their member whose filling station at Orlu was demolished by the Rochas Okorocha's administration. The Commissioner stated that however, "the government has reasons to believe that there is more to the planned Strike than meets the eye. First the judgment itself was hidden from the current administration and no effort was made to dialogue with the government by the aggrieved member. He said Inspite of this, when the government found out about t

Anambra 2021: Between a Practicalist, Leeches and First Class Bully

By Chukwuemerie Uduchukwu    Over the years, residents of Anambra State have suffered embarrassments and disappointments from successive regimes. Those regimes came on board with sugar-coated promises and deceived ndị Anambra to believe that they are the chosen ones that will liberate the state from poor physical and economic planning, and lack of policy implementation. The failure of those regimes began with their decision to appoint Transition Committee Chairmen to oversee the legislative and administrative affairs of various local government areas instead of allowing the people to elect their Councilors and Chairmen, thereby monopolizing the affairs of the local government which is the tier of government closer to the people and consequently, there was administrative failure at the grassroots.   As Anambrarians wallow through the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) government of Chief Willie Obiano, a regime they have been managing like Boko Haram Crises following rampant poor
