TRUE STATE OF NEKEDE / IHIAGWA / OBINZE ROAD

-- as phase one has been completed and commissioned! There has been a misleading publication making rounds and painting the Government of Imo State and President Muhammadu Buhari in bad light with respect to the Nekede / Ihiagwa / Obinze road. For clarity sake, the road in question was awarded in phases and phase one has been completed and commissioned while construction work on the next phase (Phase Two) would commence after the rains and subsequently, the last phase. While the Government feels the hardship and pains experienced by the residents and road users at phases two and three of the road, it's improper and unpatriotic for anyone to falsely propagate that the Nekede / Ihiagwa / Obinze road has not received Government's attention. The reconstruction arm of the 3R Government has continued to improve on the state of our infrastructure and it would touch every corner. #HopeNewAndElectronicMediaCenter

Imo PDP's False Alarm Caused Monday's Stampede in Owerri, GACIY alleges

The panic mood in Owerri on Monday resulted from a false alarm by elements within the Imo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Global Association of Concerned Imo Youths (GACIY) has alleged.  There was a rumored presence of unknown gunmen in Owerri and news that gunshots were heard at some parts of the capital spread like wildfire between the hours of 11 and 12.  This caused residents to scamper for safety. Some businesses shut down while most public schools released their pupils and students. But GACIY in a statement on Tuesday said the alarm was false and blamed the opposition party for spreading it, an action, according to the group, put both the young and the old in harm's way.  Part of the statement signed by the group's convener, Collins Ughalaa, read: "We resolutely condemn the false alarm raised by elements of Imo PDP which threw Owerri into a stampede, mass hysteria, and panic around midday Monday Oct 4, 2021. "By spreading fake news tha

My Thoughts on the Situation in Southeast Nigeria

By Kingsley Moghalu  I was a child during the Nigerian Civil War but I have good memories of the destruction and death from the war itself and the death from kwashiokor of at least a million children who died of starvation. I remember the death of my uncle Godson, my father's youngest brother and a Biafran soldier, and the wailing anguish of my now late grandmother at his funeral. The lives and futures of so many brilliant young men and women wasted in a conflict not of their making.  Till tomorrow, I continue to believe that Major Chukwuma Nzeogwu's violent coup of January 1966 (which ultimately failed as it was suppressed) was a wrong move, because that's what started the violent phase of the Nigerian crisis (there was a political crisis already). But I believe Nzeogwu and his co-conspirators from various ethnic groups in our country acted alone. No one sent sent them, let alone Ndigbo. They were simply hot-headed and misguided soldiers in a time in Africa when the milita

GROUP ASKS IMO PDP TO STOP THE SPREAD OF FAKE NEWS

A Non Governmental Association Group, Forum For Democractic Advocacy has stressed the need for Imo PDP to be called to order in the dissemination of fake news in the state. In a press release made avaliable to newsmen in Owerri, the group said that "the need has arisen for us to call to order Imo state PDP, to desist from their culture of hawking fake news and creating undue tension in the state.   The release further went on to state that "we are aware that IMO PDP has been sponsoring information that IPOB has been harming people and destroying life’s and properties in imo state."   "The aim of this fake news is to make imo state seem ungovernable and at war.  IMO PDP wants Nigerians to feel that this current state administration is to blame for the agitations of IPOB and hence IPOB is particularly aggrevied at imolites."  The group however maintained that it's instructive for them to dispel this narrative as it is dangerous for the peace and tranquility o
