By Ikechukwu  Anyanwu  The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr Kennedy Ibeh, has clarified that the decision  of the House to declare the seat of Nkwerre State Constituency vacant  Is a constitutional responsibility rather than personal. The speaker made the clarification on Thursday,  during a press conference with House correspondents in his office.  He said that once a motion is brought to the House and seconded,  such motion is ripe for debate and the Speaker is bound by the law, rules and regulations of the House to listen to the debate on the floor of the house and  to put up such matters  for votes. He explained that it  is the duty of the Speaker during plenary to make it clear  to members that it is not enough to make allegations, as there are conditions upon which such powers can be exercised. He noted that the House, not the Speaker,  must be satisfied with the evidences before it. The Speaker made it clear  that emotions don't build institutions, as in

  Justice Binta Nyako of the federal high court Abuja has struck out 8 of the 15 count charge brought by the federal government against the leader of the indigenous people of Biafra Nnamdi Kanu. Delivering ruling on the validity of the charge justice Binta held that  In the instant preliminary objection application,  counts  6,7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 14 have not disclosed any offense by the defendant , while Count 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 15 shows some allegations. The trial of the defendant  shall proceed on the those count,. She noted that rendition for the purpose of criminal investigation is allowed. In the instant case, there is bench warrant on the defendant, suffice it say, he is a fugitive before the court. The court also held that the issue of proscription of IPOB, the case is still on appeal, the order proscribing the organization is still subsisting until it is vacated.

His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has revived the hopes of 15 Communities as he reinstated their unduly sacked legitimate Ezes by the previous administration. The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma in his address said that no government has any right to sack any traditional ruler appointed or elected by his own people, stressed that “The duty of the Government is to approve traditional leaderships appointed by the people and has no power to disapprove or sack legitimate traditional rulers “. The Governor who frowned at the injustice apologized to the Ezes and their unduly denied communities on behalf of the previous administration. He further disclosed that investigations were made and found no evidence of litigation or criminality against the Ezes as why any Government will sack a duly elected Traditional Ruler. He also promised to payroll them stating that a worker deserves his pay and added that “we are not going to be party to anything that will stop you

The family of Deacon Umunnakwe from Ihiagwa in Owerri West LGA of Imo State would forever be grateful to God for the successful surgery their Daughter, Miss Blessing Umunnakwe, underwent at Cairo in Egypt. Young Miss Blessing who won the 2021 MEXT Postgraduate Scholarship organized by the Japanese Government, was hindered from resuming studies at the University of Tokyo in October 2021 due to an ailment that grew worse leading to the lost of the Scholarship. After several failed efforts at treating the Young Lady and with a referral from the National Hospital Abuja for a surgery at Cairo in Egypt, the family sought for help from Office of the First Lady, Her Excellency Barr. (Mrs) Chioma Uzodimma, through her Non-Governmental organization, GoodHope Flourish Foundation. Following her empathy on the young Lady, Her Excellency prayed on the State Government for succor and to her amazement, His Excellency the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma approved the full sponsorship of the Medical

Hon.Barr.  Kennedy Chidozie Ibeh, took over the mantle of leadership of Imo State  House of  Assembly (IMHA), in Nov. 8, 2021, he did not keep anybody in doubt about his willingness to serve Imo State House of Assembly in utmost good  fate, fear of God and in total compliance with the constitutional provision of the federal republic and the  House Rule. Many who knew  the Rt. Hon. Speaker for his compasion, emphathy and temerity were not at a loss about his ability to marry justice, mercy, fairnes and  love in the discharge of the onerous responsiblity.   No wonder on 23rd, Dec, when some honourable members who were very close to him erred in their conducts as paliamentarians, a section of the observing public were keen to know if  the newly elected  Speaker will renege  on his promise of restoring discipline and job ethics to the House,  or whether he will  pander to the side of emotion and sentiments.  The decision, however, was not difficult for him
