ExxonMobil Declares Force Majeure On Crude Oil Lifting In Nigeria

American oil major, ExxonMobil has declared force majeure on oil lifting from several ports in Nigeria. This follows reported industrial action by the company’s in-house workers union, the company said, in a statement yesterday. This will however lead to another set back to the country which is a member of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), and had lost its status as Africa’s top oil producer last year when businesses such as Shell Plc and TotalEnergies began to reduce their investment due to extensive corruption and security concerns. ExxonMobil has been trying to sell $1.2 billion in shallow-water assets in challenging Nigeria, the company told Reuters in February, while keeping deep-water assets further from the coast. Federal Gov’t Denies Bailing Peter Obi Out Of Detention In UK

  The Federal Government of Nigeria has denied news making the rounds that it intervened in the detention ordeal of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in London, United Kingdom last week. LEADERSHIP reports that Obi was briefly detained at Hearthrow Airport in London in a case of mistaken identity during his trip to celebrate Easter in the UK. A fake photo has gone viral on the social media on Thursday purportedly showing the executive chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, seated in an office with Obi and a UK law enforcement officer in order to secure the LP presidential candidate’s release from detention. Uzodimma to sponsor 1,000 pilgrims to holy lands

In his determination to deepen and strengthen the spiritual lives of Imo people,Gov Hope Uzodimma has approved the sponsorship of a record 1,000 pilgrims to the holy lands of Israel and Jordan this year. State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon Declan Emelumba disclosed this in a statement issued in Owerri yesterday. Hon Emelumba said the approval has already been given to the State Pilgrims' Board to commence screening of would be beneficiaries. According to him, forms have been sent to churches and other segments of the society for them to distribute to their  interested members.
