SOLUDO CONDEMNS GRUESOME MURDER OF ANAMBRA STATE HOUSE MEMBER, HON OKECHUKWU OKOYE

Unknown gunmen strike again in Ukpor

A large number of gunmem in the early hours of Saturday swooped on Umudiji Umuohama village Ukpor in Nnewi South Local Goverment Area of Anambra State. A Special Adviser to the former chairman of Nnewi South council area, Hon. Uzozie Chukwujekwu was abducted from his house and his only son was shot in the stomach. The abducted person is a member of St Andrew's Church Umuohama Ukpor. A source who pleaded for anonymity said that the incident happened around 12 midnight noting that the rampaging gunmem shot their way into the compound. He claimed that the gunmem were enraged because Hon Chukwujekwu did not willingly open the gate for them until they forced their way into the family compound. The only son who was said to be fatally shot in the belly was said to have been rushed to an undisclosed hospital where he is receiving treatment. Gunmen threat: Soludo assures Anambra residents of safety

The Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has told the people of the state not to panic over gunmen’s threat to attack local government areas in the state. Soludo described the “anonymous” letter as a tool intended to create tension and fear among the peace loving people of the state. In a statement on Wednesday signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Mr Christian Aburime, the governor assured the people of the state and residents of adequate safety and protection as security agencies are jointly working round the clock with the state government to maintain law and order. The Anambra state government has replied the anonymous letter in circulation of an impending threat to LGAs in the state. In a press statement made available to newsmen through the Chief Press Secretary of Governor Charles Soludo, Christian Aburime said that, "The attention of the Government of Anambra State has been drawn to an anonymous threat letter being circulated in the state of a planned attack on ten (10) local government areas in the State. SOLUDO CELEBRATE LEGENDARY GOALKEEPER, EMMANUEL OKALA ON HIS 71ST BIRTHDAY

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo sends his warm congratulatory greetings to former Nigeria goalkeeper, Emmanuel Okala who attained the age of 71 on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. Governor Soludo commends Emmanuel Okala's heroic feats as one of Nigeria's outstanding goalkeepers who manned the goal for the Nigeria National football team between 1972 - 1980. The Governor recalls Okala's selfless service and exceptional patriotism to the nation adding that he was in the team that won the All-Africa Games football gold in Lagos in 1973. He was also part of the Green Eagles, now Super Eagles who won bronze at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana 1978. SOLUDO CONDEMNS ABDUCTION OF ANAMBRA STATE ASSEMBLY MEMBER, BEMOANS WAVE OF INSECURITY IN ANAMBRA

Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has condemned in strong terms, the abduction of the member representing Aguata Constituency II at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Okechukwu Okoye. The Governor also condemned the abduction of Hon. Okoye's Campaign Director, Mr. Cyril Chiegboka. They were both abducted on May 15, 2022. The Governor therefore called for their immediate release. EEDC LAMENTS THE SETTING ABLAZE OF ITS OGIDI OFFICE BY UNIDENTIFIED CRIMINAL ELEMENTS

Enugu electricity distribution company EEDC has lamented the destruction of it's Ogidi office by unidentified hoodlums masking under the pretence of freedom fighting.  In a press release made avaliable to newsmen through the Head of communicatios of the company Mr Emeka Ezeh says "In the early hours of today, Monday, 16th May, 2022, at about 1.45am, the Ogidi District of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) was set ablaze by unidentified criminal elements, leaving about 32 utility and operational vehicles all burnt, including other assets and equipment within the premises." COURT HALTS SHARING OF DERIVATION FUNDS TO OIL PRODUCING STATES

  A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Accountant General of the Federation to immediately halt the distribution of more than One trillion naira due to oil producing states pending the determination of the suit  before it. The Court, presided over by Justice Ahmed Mohammad in an interim injunction held  that the distribution of the derivation funds without the indices of the Revenue, Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) was injurious to the applicant which is the Imo state government. The Imo state attorney general had in a suit No FHC/ABJ/CE/415/2022, against RMAFC and others challenged the distribution of the said funds without unambiguous indices by RMAFC as provided by, in Nigeria's Constitution. In his submission before the court, counsel to Imo State Government, Chief Olusola Oke argued on the need to protect his client pending the determination of the suit.
