Peter Obi At Senator Barau’s Son’s Wedding: Sign Of A United Nigeria – Akpabio

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has described the presence of the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, at the wedding Fatiha of Amir, the son of Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, as a sign of a united Nigeria. Akpabio, who was speaking after the event in Kano on Friday, noted that the presence of many high-profile personalities at the wedding ceremony attests to the fact that Senator Barau is a peaceful man of the people. “You can see that even Labour Party Pesidential Candidate Peter Obi and his people are here; this tells you that Nigeria will remain united as one entity,” he said. The wedding Fatiha, graced by Vice President Kashim Shettima, was between Amir and Bilkisu Aliyu Sani Madaki, the daughter of the Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Aliyu Sani Madaki. The event was held at the Isyaka Rabiu Juma’at Mosque, Goron Dutse, Kano State.

WOMEN GROUP IN NIGER DELTA COMMEND AKPABIO OVER SENATE'S ROLE IN NLC, TUC, NARD

OKOROCHA ENDORSES UZODIMMA FOR SECOND TERM

The former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha has endorsed the second tenure bid of His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma as the Executive Governor of Imo State in the November 11th Governorship election in Imo State. This was the outcome of the meeting between the Vice President, H.E. Senator Kashim Shettima, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), H.E. FG approves N5bn subsidy palliative, 5 trucks of rice for each state

The National Economic Council, NEC, on Thursday said that the Federal Government has approved N5 billion grant to be given to each of the 36 states of the federation for the procurement of grains as well as five trucks of rice to each state as palliatives to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal. The NEC also approved the distribution of 40,000 bags of maize to be distributed to states. It also directed the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, to distribute food items to states sharing border with Niger Republic over the recent political instability in the country. These were some of the outcomes of the NEC meeting presided over by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja. 2 MILLION FOR SENATORS MEANT FOR RUNNING COSTS - NASS MANAGEMENT

The Management of the National Assembly has disclosed that the payment of N2 million to each of the 109 Senators last week was meant for the running costs of their offices. The clarification by the Senate's bureaucracy was contained in a statement by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Magaji Tambuwal and signed by the Secretary, Research and Information, Dr. Ali Umoru. The statement lamented the criticisms that greeted the payment of the money since the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, made it public shortly before the federal lawmakers embarked on their current annual recess. It explained that the funds were actually appropriated for in the 2023 National  Budget. Submitting its report to Governor Hope Uzodimma, the committee recommended the recovery of the Shell Camp land from Okorocha and his associates within six months and hand the same over to AIFCE. The report which was signed by the Chairman,Prof  Vitalis Orikeze Ajumbe and the secretary, Barr B F Anyanwu,  regretted that Okorocha,as governor, used brute force including the military and hoodlums to snatch the land from the College after which he allocated or sold same to his top associates. Insecurity: Ohanaeze youths hail S'East governors, security agencies

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has lauded what it called unity of purpose among the five South-East governors.  The group said this in a communique issued after their meeting in Enugu over the weekend.  The communique was signed by its National President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike after their meeting in Enugu.  They said the collaborative efforts of the governors had resulted in the reduction of insecurity in the region.
