Let's Unite Against Terrorism, Tinubu Urges Nigerians At Book Launch On Counter-Terrorism

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday urged Nigerians to stand united in the fight against terrorism and work for global peace and security. The President made the appeal in Abuja at a book launch on "Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism in Northeast Nigeria: Emerging Perspectives and the Imperative of Airpower." The book was a research study sponsored by the Nigerian Airforce in collaboration with the Babcock University. "Together, let us stand united against terrorism and work towards a future where peace, security and prosperity prevails in the Northeast region of Nigeria, in Nigeria and the global community," Tinubu said in a prepared text read by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio who represented the President to formally unveil the book. Appeal Court sacks Kano Governor

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, on Friday, nullified the election of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State. The appellate court, in a unanimous decision by a three-member panel of justices, held that Governor Yusuf was not a valid candidate in the gubernatorial election that was held in the state on March 18. It maintained that evidence that was adduced by the parties established that Governor Yusuf was not a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, at the time the election was held. According to the court, Yusuf, under section 177(c) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, was not qualified to contest the governorship election since he was not validly sponsored by the NNPP. “A person must be a member of a political party before he can be sponsored for an election. “Sponsorship without membership is like putting something on nothing,” the court held in its lead judgement that was delivered by Justice M. EEDC Restores Power to South East after call off of Industrial Action

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform her esteemed customers of the restoration of electricity supply following the suspension of the industrial action by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC). As a result, all our sources of supply at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) stations were restored yesterday night, and our outgoing feeders are now in service, except those on fault. In addition, supply to Egbu TCN station which serves our customers in Imo State was restored yesterday night.  "We sincerely appreciate our esteemed customers, especially those in Imo State, for their understanding during this trying time, and assure them of our continued commitment to providing improved services."

N30,000 Minimum Wage No Longer Acceptable – Abdulsalami

Former head of state and chairman, National Peace Committee, Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar, has said N30,000 minimum wage is not acceptable anywhere in the world and cannot be used for any meaningful human development. He therefore challenged Nigerians to harness the resources within their areas to improve their standard of living. ‘One-Party Merger’: You Can’t Offer Credible Opposition, APC Slams Atiku

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has slammed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his call that opposition parties merge to defeat the ruling party in the next presidential election. Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole, has revealed that he was once assaulted and detained by men of the Department of State Services (DSS) during his tenure as the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) between 1999 and 2007. LOSS OF SUPPLY IN PARTS OF EEDC NETWORK, CAUSED BY NATIONAL STRIKE:

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform her esteemed customers that the loss of supply currently experienced in some parts of the South East is as a result of the ongoing nationwide strike by the organised labour. Earlier today, the taskforce team of the  Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) visited the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) stations, forced workers out, including our interface Distribution Substation Officers (DSO) and shutdown the stations.  This action resulted in loss of supply from the New Haven, Abakaliki, Ugwuaji, Oji River, Agu Awka, Nibo, Ohiya, and Awada TCN stations. Consequently, the entire Enugu, Ebonyi, and Anambra State and Umuahia District in Abia State are without electricity supply.  Currently, Nru TCN Station, Nsukka, fed from Otukpo axis is the only station still with electricity supply in our entire network.  It will be recalled that our customers in Imo State have been without elec

Bayelsa, Imo, Kogi polls: Ohanaeze hails INEC, security agencies

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the security agencies over the successful conduct of the off-season elections in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi States. Enugu guber: Don’t go to Supreme Court - Ohanaeze tells Edeoga

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has again appealed to the Labour Party, LP, governorship candidate in Enugu State, Barr Chijioke Edeoga to end further litigation over the outcome of the 2023 election.  The group made the appeal while reacting to the Appeal Court judgement which upheld the election of Governor Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. YPP Lose Ward Chairman to Unknown Gunmen in Nnaka

Chief Joe Mohale a frontline politician in Nnaka has been shot by unknown gunmen. He was the YPP Chairman, Nanka Ward 1. He was killed by political thugs last night after organizing a meeting between the member representing Orumba North and South in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Princess Chinwe Nnabuife and her Nanka constituents.
