The collaboration and teamwork among the SA on University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Hon. Ezekiel Chukwukere, SA on Agriculture II, Dr. Chris Washington Igbozuruike and SA on Agriculture III, Chief Bernard Nwanana has started yielding fruits as they met with the stakeholders of Hope Farmers' Movement (HOFAM) in Owerri yesterday.   The Imo state government has banned all forms of unauthorized levy collection taskforce in the state. This was made known to newsmen yesterday in an official press release signed by Oguwike Nwachuku, the Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to the Governor. In the statement he directed that, all persons or groups involved in the reckless collection of levies in Imo State without the strict authorisation of the governor have been asked to desist forthwith or have themselves to blame. Governor Hope Uzodimma said the consequences that await the refusal of those involved in such acts are huge because his government is no longer prepared to tolerate acts that smear her image. The release further noted that Governor Uzodimma is particularly concerned about reports of individuals, groups and even political appointees, who harass members of the public under the guise of taskforces and use same to collect levies and impose penalties that are both illegal and criminal. The Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Moji Christianh Adeyeye, yesterday held the south east NAFDAC media sensitization workshop on the dangers of drug Hawking and ripening of fruits with calcium carbide in Awka Anambra state. Flashback to August 17, 2019, a piece of very disturbing news filtered in that a frontline Igbo son, the then deputy president of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu was mobbed while attending an Igbo cultural festival in Germany. Anambra has joined the rest of the world to marks 2023 International Cooperative Day today (Saturday), the State Government through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is currently seeking partnership with the Cooperative societies operating in the state on food sufficiency and security.  The State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr Christian Udechukwu, disclosed this at Ekwueme Square Awka, venue of this year’s celebration. The Senate yesterday entered the fifth day of the screening of the ministerial nominees forwarded to it by  President Bola Tinubu for screening and subsequent confirmation. The Senate commenced the screening exercise with Lola Ade-John,  the ministerial nominee from Lagos State after its almost two hours closed-door meeting. The Screening which started 3 pm, came to an end at 7.19 pm, just as in between the process, the Senate went on break at 5.05 pm and returned at 5.45 pm. President Tinubu had earlier sent a list of 28 ministerial nominees followed by a supplementary list of 19 nominees last Wednesday to the Senate for screening.
