The youth wing of apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has expressed outrage over the sudden resurgence of kidnapping in Enugu State.  Between Monday and Friday, (yesterday) several travellers have been abducted along the Enugu-Ugwuogo-Opi Nsukka Road. A road user confirmed that the hoodlums attacked commuters three separate times on Thursday. While the first attack occurred by 12 pm, the second attack occurred by 2 pm. Another group of commuters were kidnapped by 5 pm. Earlier on Monday, Tuesday and on Wednesday, several commuters were also abducted despite several military and police checkpoints along the road. The acting Inspector-general of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, is set to establish specialised Quick Intervention Squad, which will comprise combat-ready Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel with effective and enhanced training in crisis de-escalation and violent crime reduction strategies. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has said cash deposits into domiciliary accounts will no longer be restricted, and customers “shall have unfettered and unrestricted access to funds in their accounts”. The apex bank spoke in a statement issued after a meeting with the Bankers’ Committee on Sunday. The meeting was meant to provide further guidance to deposit money banks (DMBs) on the recent operational changes to the foreign exchange market and to discuss the implementation and implications of the policy changes for the banking public.

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has expressed outrage over the attack on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, by ex-militant leader, Asari Dokubo.  The Igbo group urged President Bola Tinubu to ignore the likes of Dokubo and invite Kanu for a round table discussion.  Dokubo had while speaking to journalists after a meeting with President Tinubu branded the IPOB leader a criminal; he also told Tinubu not to release him.  His statement has continued to draw the ire of Ndigbo, with many accusing him of reaching beyond his bounds.  In a statement issued on Sunday by the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, he accused Dokubo of being sponsored by those who want to destabilise President Tinubu’s government.  Okwu said it was unthinkable that at a time many patriotic citizens of the country were thinking of ways to unite the country, Dokubo who postures as a ‘son of the P
