Downpour leaves Lagos-Badagry Expressway flooded, as residents groan

Borno floods force Zulum to relocate to Damboa Hundreds of motorists and passengers going to Mile 2 were on Saturday stranded as flood from a morning downpour disrupted free movement on the trade fair and Abule-Ado axis of Lagos-Badagry Expressway. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that flood from the downpour blocked the trade fair axis, temporarily impeding movement of vehicles on the expressway. NAN also reports that the rainfall, which started at 5.00.a.m and continued for hours, forced many passengers to come down from commercial vehicles and resort to trekking from Abule-Ado to Barracks in Ojo. Some passengers and motorists urged the Lagos State Government to clear the drainage to avert such flood incidentsl Mrs Ibironke Adegboyega, a trader in Ebute-Aro, Lagos Island, said that the flood had prevented her from going to open her shop. IGP Tasks Lagos CP to Unravel mystery behind Mohbad’s Death

The Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun and Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Idowu Owohunwa, on Saturday, deliberated on the circumstances surrounding the death of Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. The latest development was made known by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyi Adejobi. According to the Police spokesman, Egbetokun and Owohunwa had the deliberation at the Police Airwing, Muritala Mohammed Airport, Ikeja Lagos. In the statement via X, Adejobi said the IGP had directed the Lagos CP to deploy the command’s resources to conduct a thorough investigation into the death of Mohbad. UPDATE: SUPPLY RESTORATION AFTER TOTAL SYSTEM COLLAPSE

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform her esteemed customers of the gradual restoration of supply after the total system collapse. Awada Transmission station has been restored and our Awada, Osamala, 3-3, Army Barracks, Nnewi-Orba, and Obosi 33KV feeders and the PPI and IUNT 11KV outgoing feeders have recieved supply so far in Anambra State.  Ugwuaji Transmission station has equally received supply and Gariki 33KV feeder was restored so far. New-Haven Transmission station has received supply and Kingsway 33KV Line 1 and Power-House 11KV outgoing feeder have been restored so far.   Agu-Awka Transmission station received supply but is presently placed on station services only. The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform her esteemed customers of a total system collapse which occurred  at 12:40am today, 14th September,2023. This has resulted to the loss of supply currently being experienced across the network. Due to this development, all our interface TCN stations are out of supply, and we are unable to provide service to our customers in Abia, Anambra,  Ebonyi,  Enugu and Imo States. We are on standby awaiting detailed information of the collapse and restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC), Osogbo.

Breaking: DSS arrests Ahmad, CBN Deputy Governor

  Aisha Ahmad, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in charge of Financial System Stability (FSS) has been arrested by the State Security Service (SSS). Details of the arrest are still sketchy. but Ahmad was reportedly arrested over her “alleged fraudulent acquisition of shares in Polaris Bank, Titan Bank/Union Bank.” She is currently being interrogated on how $300 million to complete the acquisition of Union Bank was raised by Titan Bank, reports say. Neither the Central Bank  nor the SSS has spoken officially about the arrest, which is now one of those since the Jim Obazee-led special panel began investigating the CBN as directed by President Bola Tinubu. President Tinubu, in late July, appointed the special panel to investigate the apex bank following the arrest and prosecution of suspended CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele, CBN, over alleged financial infractions.

UPDATE ON THE FAULT AFFECTING OUR CUSTOMERS IN PARTS OF ANAMBRA STATE

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform her esteemed customers in parts of Anambra State that the fault from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Awada Station, which is the reason for the power outage being experienced for some days now is receiving attention.  Currently, the TCN engineers are transferring our 3-3, Obosi, and Ossamala 33KV feeders from the faulty TR11, 60MVA 132/33KV power transformer, to the newly commissioned 100MVA power transfomer in Awada TCN Station.  Also, in order to create a safe working space for the engineers, the TR13 60MVA and Mobitra 40MVA 132/33KV power transformers are switched off, thereby affecting Niccus, Nnewi-Oba, Nnewi Industrial, Awada 2 and Army Barracks 33KV feeders. All customers that receive electricity supply from these feeders are currently out of supply.  We regret the inconveniences this development has caused our esteemed customers and assure them that once the maintenance is completed, supply will be
