ASUU, FG Meeting Ends In Deadlock, Strike continues

The hopes raised by the renewed discussions by the FG and ASSU over the strike embarked upon by ASSU to press for better working conditions has hit the rocks. The  Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike will continue after a meeting between the  group and FG ended in another stalemate.  The closed-door meeting which was held on Wednesday at the conference room of the Ministry of Labour and Employment in Abuja lasted for five hours, could not resolve the pressing demands of the group.  In his opening remarks, the Minister, Chris Ngige said the Federal Government sees the meeting as a top priority as concerted efforts were being made to ensure that Universities reopen as soon as possible. A 75-year-old woman, Mrs Nkiruka Ugochukwu, from Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra, has  claimed that operatives of Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS in Awkuzu, Anambra State, killed her son after collecting collecting N500,000 from the family. #EndSARS: Hon. Azubogu Condemns Violence, Destructions In Anambra; Urges Urgent Action

#EndSARS protests escalate in most parts of Nigeria, with killings and destruction, especially the recent mayhem in Nnewi  and its environ, where police officers were killed and stations burnt, the member representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. PROTESTS: Catholic Priest Mobilises Youths To Clean-Up Onitsha; Calls For Calm The Spiritual Director of the Holy Ghost

  Adoration Ministry, Uke, Anambra State, Rev. Fr. Obimma Emmanuel, yesterday, mobilised youths to clean-up rubbish left in the streets and major roads of Onitsha, the commercial city of Anambra State, as a result of burn-fire made by #EndSARS protesters. The Catholic priest, who personally joined in the clean-up exercise, also made available refuse disposal truck and his personal vehicle to help evacuate the rubbish. Speaking during the exercise, Fr. Horror In Anambra As Protesters Attack Police Divisions, Kill DPO, DCO

 T here was tension in Anambra State yesterday afternoon, as #EndSARS protesters stormed police divisions in Orsumenyi, Amichi and Ukpor; all in Nnewi South Local Government Area of the state, setting the stations on fire and killing the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, of Orsumenyi Division, Mr. Akoan, and the Divisional Crime Officer, DCO, of the same station, whose name was not ascertained.
