  Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodimma has disclosed how he met Imo state when he assumed office, describing the state as being in cemetary and in total distress when he assumed power four years ago The APC Progressive governor chairman, Uzodimma said this during an interview on ChannelsTV. The governor said, “Given the situation in Imo State before 2020 when I became the governor and the situation of Imo State today, 2023, three years after, a lot of things are there for people to now know that there is a huge difference.” "When I came to Imo State, I met a moribund state, a state that was in distress. A state, I can even say, that was in the cemetery; I exhumed the body. Can you imagine a state where I came as the governor and everybody absconded? No handover note. Imo State government has declared that it is aware of a sinister plan by the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to feast on the blood of the victims of insecurity in the state, through a planned phantom protest in Abuja, scheduled for this week.  According to the government, the opposition has recruited   unsuspecting indigenes and miscreants for shipment to Abuja  for the protest at diplomatic  missions, where the recruits will claim to be  relatives of the victims of  insecurity in the state, and  blame the government for the killings.  A statement in Owerri on Monday by the state commissioner for information and strategy, Hon Declan Emelumba, said the frustrated opposition PDP  rattled by the defeat staring them on the face in the November governorship election is now employing all manner of desperate antics to cause confusion in the state.  Emelumba said the government is fully aware of this evil plan by the PDP, which is scheduled to hold in Abuja within the week,

...Says, 'We are making progress' Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodimma has urged Imo citizens and residents alike to renew their faith in democracy, insisting that the country is already making progress in that direction despite all odds. The Governor who spoke on the occasion of Nigeria's Democracy Day 2023, advised residents of Imo State to join other Nigerians to renew their faith in the system of as the best form of government. Governor Uzodimma acknowledged the fact that democracy might not have solved all the challenges facing the country, but noted that a lot of milestones have been achieved since the return of democratic dispensation in 1999. He expressed satisfaction that in Imo State, for instance,  a lot of progress had been recorded under democratic rule, especially since January 2020. The Governor therefore called on Imo citizens and residents to rededicate themselves to the efforts to strengthen and sustain democracy irrespective of imperfections inherent

Ahead of the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly, apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has again urged the members-elect to put national interest above all sectional and personal interests.  Ohanaeze youths spoke through a statement by its National President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike on Sunday.  He said the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu promises to be ready for good governance and deserves the support of all Nigerians, including the members of the National Assembly.  Okwu noted that with the robust and supportive National Assembly, President Tinubu would not have obstacles on his way towards restoring the nation to the path of growth and development.  He said, “What should matter to the incoming members of the Senate and the House of Representatives is the general interest of Nigerians.  “While we are against rubber stamp legislation, we are supportive of handing NASS leadership that would work in harmony with the executive.  “We a
