NNPC Ltd appoints 5 executive vice presidents to boost competitiveness

In order to align its operations with global best practice, as well as reap the numerous benefits of the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd has appointed five Executive Vice Presidents. The appointment it was gathered, is part of the progress being made in the ongoing reforms of the NNPC Ltd as well as enable the National Oil Company further position itself to be able to effectively compete globally. Based on the new structure, the Group Executive Director, Upstream, Adokiye Tombomieye has been named the Executive Vice President (Upstream); while the Group Executive Director, Downstream, Engr. Fuel Scarcity Lingers In Abuja.

  The petrol scarcity in Abuja the federal capital territory, and its environs is biting harder despite assurances from both the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited and the Nigerian Midstream Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) that the situation would ease following supply of the product. Recall that the NNPC had last week Wednesday, assured that 146 petroleum trucks had arrived Abuja following the receding of the flood that affected vehicular movement in Lokoja, Kogi state. Checks across the federal capital reveal that most filling stations are shut due to lack of petrol supply while long queues still persists at the few filling stations having the product. This is as black marketers continued to make brisk business at every corner particularly right in front of the stations were long queues of motorists were unable to get supplies. Many injured as hoodlums, traders clash in Lagos

Many persons were said to have been injured in a violent clash that erupted between motor park touts and traders at the Alaba International market, Lagos. As of the time of writing this report, the motor park touts popularly known as agbero, was exchanging bullets with some team of policemen who were on the ground to calm the situation. It was gathered that the new leadership in the market directed the agberos  to leave its terrain owing to complaints of increased toll collection from vehicles conveying customers’ goods. They were alleged to be collecting as much as N4,000 from each driver, daily. However yesterday morning, the toll collectors reinforced, wielding dangerous weapons and attacking anyone in sight. APC releases fresh Campaign Council list

The Senator Abdullahi Adamu-led National Working Committee NWC of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC appeared to have made decisive inroads into the party’s Presidential Campaign Council PCC as it Wednesday night released a fresh list, naming Adamu as second in command of the council. In the list which was signed by the National Secretary of the party, Senator Iyiola Omisore as opposed to the initial 422-member list signed by the presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the president, Muhammadu Buhari was still named as Chairman of the Council. Tompolo Discovers New Illegal Pipeline

Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, TSSNL, a surveillance company operated by ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, better known as Tompolo, has discovered another huge illegal pipeline. Gatekeepers News reports that the illegal pipeline discovered was connected into the 48-inch Trans Forcados Export Trunkline which has a capacity to export 400,000 barrels per day in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, South South Nigeria. Jonathan denies endorsing any candidate

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has denied endorsing the Atiku/Okowa presidential ticket.  However indications have emerged that some hawks in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stage-managed the meeting to achieve a pre-determined phantom endorsement. The development came amid information that Jonathan has a soft spot for the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi who he has severally supported morally and otherwise ahead of 2023 general election. 2022 Flood: 603 Dead, 1.3m Displaced Across Nigeria – F G

  The federal government has said at least 603 people have been killed in floods across Nigeria with 1.3 million persons displaced from their communities. Some of the states where deaths from floods have been reported include Kogi, Anambra, Kebbi, Delta, Bayelsa, and Jigawa with about 31 states said to have experienced flooding in 2022. This is even as the hellish condition of those impacted by the flood in several states is intensifying even as the minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, revealed that about 82,053 houses had been totally decimated, 2,504,095 million persons affected, while 332, 327 hectares of land were completely damaged.
