Inaugural speech: I will treat Obi, Atiku with respect — Tinubu

Newly sworn in Nigeria’s president, Bola Tinubu, on Monday, in Abuja, said he will extend the courtesy worthy of a fellow compatriot to his opponents in the February 25 election that brought him to power. He also argued that Nigeria had not had a better election than the recently concluded one in its history. “My victory does not render me more Nigerian than the rest of you. It also does not render my opponents less Nigerian than me. I will treat my opponents, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, as important compatriots,” Tinubu said in his inaugural address at Eagle Square, Abuja. About an hour earlier, the former Lagos Governor had taken the oath of office as the 16th President of Nigeria alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima.

  The winner of the March 18, 2023, governorship election in Katsina State, Dr Dikko Radda has been sworn in as Governor of the state. The inauguration took place today at the Muhammadu Dikko Township Stadium, Katsina. EEDC TAKES MOBILE MAP METERING TO OWERRI, IMO STATE

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has commenced mobile MAP metering in Owerri, Imo State, as part the organization’s conscious effort to have more of its customers access prepaid meters within 48 hours. This metering program allows customers to pay and get metered and reimbursed with the value of the cost of meter through energy over a period. The Head, Corporate Communications, EEDC. Mr. Emeka Ezeh, who made this known through a press statement, affirmed that the company adopted this as a strategic approach to close the existing metering gap in its network. Mobile MAP Metering kicked off in Enugu in June 2022, and has been executed in several locations within the metropolis. It has traversed Ogidi and Onitsha, in Anambra State, with about 6000 customers already metered through this program. Crisis Brews In Reps Over $15m Executive Largesse

Members of the House of Representatives are poised for a showdown with Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila over allegations of unfair distribution of $15million largesse from the executive arm of government. The aggrieved lawmakers specifically alleged that Gbajabiamila had an underhand deal with the executive on behalf of the House to pass the N22.7trn Ways and Means borrowing from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) but ended up short-changing his colleagues in sharing the $15million made available to the House to sweeten the deal. The brewing crisis, it was learned, had forced Gbajabiamila to postpone resumption of plenary which was already slated for Tuesday so as to buy more time and pacify the aggrieved members.
