Jubilation As University Don Bags Prestigious Ozo Title In Unubi

It was jubilation galore in Unubi community, Nnewi South local government area of Anambra state, on Thursday, January 26, 2023, as a university don, Nze Prof. Maduabuchi Joseph Nwankwo, bagged the prestigious Ozo title in the community. Prof. Nwankwo, senior lecturer at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, was honoured with the Ozo title of "Chinyelugo" as a mark of honour for his contributions to the community and society in general; especially for his giant strides in the legal profession. The Ozo title was bestowed upon Prof. Nwankwo by a college of Ozo title holders. The ceremony attracted traditional rulers, town union heads, opinion leaders, family members and friends of the celebrant; as well as men and women from different walks of life. Drug Market Onitsha Accuse Police Of Frustrating Traders, Customers

The Bridge Head Drug Market in Onitsha, Anambra State, also popularly known as Ogbogu Market, has cried out to Governor Charles Soludo, the Inspector General of Police and other relevant stakeholders to call the personnel of the Anambra State Police Command to order over their unwholesome activities towards traders in the market and their customers. Chairman of the market, Mr. Chukwulota Ndubuisi, who made the call during a chat with newsmen recently in Onitsha, noted that police personnel in Anambra have forced over 70% of their customers out of the state, as their customers now patronize  drug markets in Lagos and elsewhere, thereby hampering their ability to meet up to the demands around them.  He said, "Today, the present administration in this market has flushed out fake and expired drugs from circulating within the market. Whenever we recover fake or expired drugs, we confiscate them, hand them over to NAFDAC or NDLEA alongside their owners for necessary disciplinary actions

Constitution Amendment: Lawmakers Transmit 35 Bills To President

The National Assembly yesterday transmitted 35 bills out of the 44 bills sent to the state Houses of Assembly to President Muhammadu Buhari for his assent. The 44 bills sent to the state Houses of Assembly in March last year include the much-talked-about local government autonomy bill, which was rejected by some states and is yet to be considered by some other states. As of December 2022, 16 states had already voted for local government autonomy. They are Abia, Kogi, Edo, Ogun, Katsina, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Nasarawa, Niger, Kaduna, Cross River, Osun, Enugu, Kano and Bauchi. Reports have it that out of the 44 bills forwarded to state Houses of Assembly for concurrence, only 35 were voted for by 24 out of the 36 state Houses of Assembly with complete exclusion of financial and administrative autonomy for local governments. Largest Container Vessel Berths At Lekki Port Ahead Of Commissioning.

Ahead of the commissioning of the Lekki Deep Seaport by President Muhammadu Buhari, today, the largest container vessel has berthed at the port. The Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council has the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has hailed the Federal High Court ruling which vacated the interim forfeiture order against a former Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.
