  The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Awka, the Anambra State capital this afternoon, nullified the election of Hon Maureen Chinwe Gwacham of the All Progressives Grand Alliance as the member representing Oyi/Ayamelum federal constituency. The tribunal in a petition filed by Hon Charles Uchenna Okafor (Wiper) of the Young Progressives Party ordered for a re run in 8 polling units in Umueje ward,Ayamelum LGA  Mrs Gwacham was declared the winner of the February 25 National Assembly poll  after INEC declared her votes as  15299 while Hon. NLC STRIKE: PARTS OF SOUTH-EAST OUT OF POWER SUPPLY

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has explained that the reason for the loss of supply currently being experienced in parts of its network is due to the strike action embarked on by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), which resulted to the shutdown of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Stations feeding its Injection Substations. The Head of Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr. Emeka Ezeh who made this known in Enugu today confirmed the affected TCN Stations as, New Haven, Ohiya, and Egbu Transmission Stations. According to him, the development affected supply to customers of EEDC under Ogui, Abakpa, Umuahia, Owerri, New Owerri, Orlu, and Mbaise districts, feeding from the affected TCN Stations. “We shall continue to monitor events and provide timely updates as it affects our operations and service to our customers”. “We are mindful of the inconveniences this situation has caused our esteemed customers and plead for their understanding”.

BREAKING: DSS uncovers plot to unleash violent protests nationwide, identifies ring leaders

The Department of State Services (DSS) this morning, Monday, September 4, said it has uncovered a plot to stage violent protests in the country. The Service disclosed this in a statement, adding, "Intelligence reports have indicated that the plotters include certain politicians who are desperately mobilising unsuspecting student leaders, ethnic based associations, youth and disgruntled groups for the planned action". In the statement by the Public Relations Officer Peter Afunanya, Ph.D, the DSS said "some elements" were behind the plans to stage violent protests. It further disclosed that the plot was "in order to discredit the Federal Government and security agencies over sundry socio-economic matters".  "Meanwhile, the Service has identified the ring leaders of the plot as well as sustained monitoring around them in order to deter them from plunging the country into anarchy", Afunanya declared in the statement.  The DSS urges, "In view of

The minister described the appointment as well deserved, as she stated that Dr Uchegbu is eminently qualifed for the job. The minister however commended the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu for choosing Uchegbu as the representative of Imo State. Burna Boy Admits Lying In Courts, Police Stations

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has admitted to lying in courtrooms and police stations on various occasions. The self-styled ‘African Giant’ admitted this while bragging about his blunt nature. He said he never lies except in “courtrooms and police stations.” On his Instagram story, Burna Boy wrote, “The only times I ever lied was in courtrooms and police stations.” “If you don’t like me, I don’t like you more than you don’t like me. Federal Govt To Introduce Cervical Cancer Vaccine In September

The federal government is set to introduce the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine  to prevent cervical cancer in the country.  The vaccine will be given to children and adolescents between the ages nine to 15 years across the country.  Executive director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr Faisal Shuaib, disclosed this yesterday at the Bi-annual Religious Leaders Review Meeting, organised by the agency, in Abuja. He said, “I want to use this auspicious occasion to bring to your attention the progress we are making towards preventing one of the deadliest diseases that affects our mothers, sisters and daughters: cervical cancer.  ‘This cancer is caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). On the 25th of September this year, we will be introducing a vaccine, the HPV vaccine that prevents cervical cancer when given to our daughters between the ages 9 to 15 years.” He urged the religious leaders to join hands with the medical community in championing the caus
