The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has reacted to a news report which broke in an online newspaper - “The Razor”, with the headline “CRAZY BILLS: ANAMBRA CONSUMERS PROTEST AGAINST EEDC”, in respect of a purported protest by Landlords and residents of Okpoko, in Ogbaru Local Government Area, Anambra State, on Tuesday. This was contained in a reaction made today by the Head of Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr. Emeka Ezeh.   Ezeh expressed surprise as there was no protest by any such group on Tuesday at any of EEDC offices in Ogabru, Anambra State. “I wonder what form this purported protest took, as there was no such situation at any of our offices in Ogbaru”, Ezeh affirmed. While acknowledging that the company has nothing against any group carrying out protest to express their grievances, provided it is done in a responsible and peaceful manner.   After the post-convention meeting yesterday between the Progressive Governors and President Muhammadu Buhari, I had a private official discussion with Mr President over State matters and sundry issues. Prominent on our discussion was the recorded achievements, so far, on the security situation in our dear State and my continual appeal for Federal Government's intervention in some infrastructural projects within the State. Mr President expressed happiness over the restoration of peace within the State while praying for its sustenance. Governor Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, says democracy all over the world is a continuous struggle towards a better society. Governor Soludo stated this during a special mass to mark Nigeria's June 12 Democracy Day Celebration at the Governor's Lodge, Amawbia. The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform her esteemed customers that it has since commenced restoration of its outgoing feeders, following the restoration of the National grid which collapsed yesterday evening, However, due to the low energy allocation to EEDC, occasioned by the poor generation, some of our feeders are currently put on System Loadshedding by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN). The Supreme Court has affirmed MacDonald Ebere as the rightful chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Imo State. This followed its unanimous judgment setting aside an earlier ruling by an FCT High Court which recognised Mr Dan Nwafor as the chairman. In the Supreme Court judgment read by Justice Adamu Jauro on behalf of four other justices,it was held that the FCT High Court lacked jurisdiction to have heard the suit abinitio. "The trial court lacked the territorial jurisdictional competence to have entertained the suit in the first place, hence rendering the decision it reached a nullity" The Supreme Court further held thus," the law is settled that a suit should be filed in the High Court of the state in which the facts constituting the cause of action occurred; that is the High Court of the state in which the events occurred". The prophets of doom had already written off the APC special convention before it started. But they didn't contend with the adroitness of the planners. President Muhammadu Buhari Friday appointed the Imo State Givernor, Senator Hope Uzodinma into the presidential Council on E-Government and Digital Economy. Uzodinma along with 26 other Nigerians will henceforth fashion out ways in which digital technologies will be employed to transform every sector of the country's economy. At the inauguration of the Council, President Buhari said the choice of Uzodinma and others was arrived at after "a painstaking and thorough process." A suspected vandal identified as Solomon Igwe, was arrested over the weekend by Security Guards operating at Thinkers Corner area of Enugu, Enugu State, for vandalizing a transformer, property of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC). The suspect, in company of two of his gang members who are currently at large, vandalized the Thinkers Guest House transformer located at Thinkers Corner, Enugu, and drained the transformer oil. Their tools and jerricans were recovered at the scene. Solomon gave the names of his fleeing gang members as Sunday and Onyema, while he named one Onyedia Obasi, alias Bishop, as their master.   Governor Hope Uzodimma has condemned the Sunday invasion of St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State by a group of terrorists, which claimed the life of many worshippers and others wounded. Governor Uzodimma commiserated with the Government and good people of Ondo State as well as the families of the victims and urged all to work in partnership with security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of the dastard act for justice.
