St. John's Institute of Innovation and Management, Neni, Anaocha local government area, is currently making frantic efforts to affiliate to Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra state, for the purpose of building sound academic partnership. Interest of St. John's Institute in the affiliation to Okopoly stems from the outstanding academic performance of the great polytechnic initiated by the Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie. The Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra state, under the amiable leadership of the rector, Dr Chioma Irene Awuzie, has presented nine programmes to the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for accreditation. The programmes presented for accreditation include: ND Marketing, HND Hospitality Management and Technology, SLT Biochemistry Option and Biochemistry/Microbiology, HND Surveying & Geo-Informatics Technology. Other programmes are HND Mechanical Engineering Technology, HND Horticultural Technology, Geological Technology and HND Agricultural Technology for resource inspection and verification respectively. The Anambra State Police Command's Rapid Response Squad/Anti-Kidnapping unit has successfully busted a criminal den in Ukpor, arresting a 35-year-old suspect, Ewulu Chikwo. The suspect allegedly planned to enforce illegal Sit-At-Home in the area and confessed to being a member of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Anambra Sector Command is mourning the loss of eight lives in a fatal crash that occurred on April 27, 2025, along the Nteje-Awka route. The crash involved a Mack tanker and a Toyota Hiace bus, resulting in eight fatalities and six injuries. The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Joyce Nnennaya Alexander, while reacting to the incident urged drivers to prioritize their safety and that of others by maintaining a safe speed and ensuring the road is clear before overtaking. She emphasized that drivers must ensure they drive at a minimum safe speed and only overtake when the road is clear. However, the rescue team from RS5.33 Nteje attended to the injured victims, transporting them to the hospital for treatment, while the deceased were taken to Jerusalem Mortuary Nteje after confirmation of death by a doctor.
