  The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Orsu State House of Assembly seat in the just-concluded State Assembly elections. The APC candidate, Hon. Francis Uche Agabige, emerged victorious with a total of 222 votes, while the candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) polled 114 votes. The election was conducted peacefully, and the people of Orsu came out en masse to cast their votes for their preferred candidates. The INEC officials were present at the polling units to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election. The people of Orsu have expressed their confidence in Hon. Francis Uche Agabige's ability to represent them well in the State Assembly. This comes on the back of an unexpected declaration of support for the APC by Hon. Ekene Nnodumele, the incumbent house member, and APGA candidate for the Orsu State Constituency. Hon. Francis Uche Agabige, a well-known grassroots politician, had been vigorously campaigning across Orsu, seeking to secure the party's ticket to contest in the House of Assembly election. His campaign had been focused on improving the economic, social, and educational fortunes of Orsu, a local government area in Imo State. On the other hand, Hon. The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has signed into law the constitutional amendment allowing states in the country to licence, generate, transmit, and distribute electricity. This was made known in a tweet by the presidential media spokesperson, Tolu Ogunlesi, on Friday. He tweeted, “ President #MBuhari has signed 16 Constitution Amendment Bills into Law. By this signing, State Houses of Assembly & Judiciaries now have constitutionally guaranteed financial independence, while Railways have moved from Exclusive Legislative List to the Concurrent List. “Another landmark change: By virtue of the Presidential Assent, Nigerian States can NOW generate, transmit and distribute electricity in areas covered by the national grid. Wasn't allowed pre-amendment. This is genuine, realistic restructuring — through the Constitution.” 

The Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has reacted angrily to the fresh threat against the Igbo in Lagos State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election. In a trending video, MC Oluomo was seen threatening that any Igbo who would not vote for the All Progressives Congress, APC, should sit at home. …FIFTEEN VANDAL SUSPECTS IN POLICE NET The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has continued to cry out to its customers on the increasing rate of attack on its facilities, a situation that is almost crippling its activities and impacting its service to customers. The Head, Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, made this cry while interacting with newsmen in Enugu on Wednesday. Ezeh lamented that the activities of vandals has become a torn in the flesh of the company and appealed for vigilance and continued support by customers. According to him, fifteen vandal suspects were arrested between January and February, this included a receiver of vandalized items. The suspension of the NLC strike in Imo state has come as a big relief to many, especially for the people of the South East.  With the suspension of the strike the head of corporate communications to EEDC Mr Emeka Ezeh has issued a statement directing it's staff to go back to work. In a statement made available to this newspaper, the head of communication for the EEDC said that"As a result, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has been informed by the Labour Union to restore supply immediately to enable the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) distribute power to its customers." An understanding was reached yesterday (Tuesday) between Imo State government and Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) to suspend the industrial action in Imo State. Imo State government was given two weeks to harmonize and implement all issues raised by the Labour Union. With the calling off of this strike action by the NLC, all staff of EEDC are expected to immediately resume normal
