Last week, I received in my Abuja home today, the CAF Presidential aspirant and President of Madagascar Football Association, Mr. Ahmad Ahmad, in furtherance of his wide consultations and the attendant campaign geared towards the forthcoming CAF Presidential election in Addis Ababa on thr 16th of March, 2017. Amongst other things, the consultation centred on football development in Nigeria especially as it relates to its optimization for youth advancement and other developmental components connected thereto. I also shared and discussed some of our ideas and initiatives in Anambra State with him as it concerns football-inspired youth development, particularly the Football Made in Anambra (1 Family - 1Footballer project) which is billed to kick off within the first quarter of this year and how CAF under his watch can partner with us. Madam Maudline Uche Ikejiaku (Nee Okoli) Okwu N’Ihu Eriku has been laid to rest in her husband’s country home in Ezekwuabor, Otolo Nnewi, in Nnewi North L.G.A of Anambra state. Madam Maduline while alive lived a life that pleased God and humanity, as she was unassuming in nature, and down to earth in all her dealings with her follow human beings. She supported her husband in all his endeavors, while alive,, which made it possible for her disposition at forgiving and forgetting easily the wrongs done to her. She as well showed undiluted love to her sister, who was the second wife to her husband. Though she lost all her five children, that did not stop her from loving her sister’s children, whom she took as her own children. Madam Maudline having died at the ripe age of 88 years, she will be fondly remembered because of the enduring legacies, she left behind, especially by members of her faith, as she was a sabatherian. Late Mrs. Elizabeth Udubeke Ikegwuonu( Nee Offor) Aka Arunne, has answered the heavenly call of glory, as she has joined the saints in heaven at the ripe age of 90 years. Late Mrs. Elizabeth Ikegwuonu was born in 1926 into the family of Mr. & Mrs Offor of Uru in Umudim Nnewi. While alive, she was a hard working woman, who had absolute faith in God, as she humbled herself and trusted in God in all things, which earned her the nickname ( God E dey) meaning God exisits & is alive in all situations. At the church service, before her interment at her husband’s country home, the officiating priest called on Christians to look beyond the present life and inculcate the attitude of caring for others spiritual well being instead of thinking about oneself all the time. It was all smiles and admiration for Ichie Kenneth Maduakor for his  magnanimity and love for the people of Nnewi, as he opened another filling station along Igwe Orizu road in Nnewi. While opening the filling station, Ichie Maduakor said, that this is another measure of his company  in helping government create employment in the country. He used the opportunity to distribute free 30,000 liters of combined products, ranging from PMS, DPK and AGO. He thanked his customers who have kept hope alive by been steadfast and dedicated. He as well called on others who have not been buying from his company to start buying from, as his meters are of standard guage. The people who came to receive free products thanked Ichie Maduakor for his love for the people. They called on God to protect him and his business. The Fairly Used and New Motorcycle dealers association(FUNMDA) in Nnewi was thrown into panic as its chairman, Sir Victor Oguama, was reported to have died, without having any aliment last Friday morning, which sent shivers down the spine of fellow traders in the market. In an emergency meeting conducted on Monday morning to officially inform traders in the market of the development, Chief Dozie Akudolu (Iroko) the Vice Chairman of South East Amalgamated traders association  said that the constitution  of FUNMDA, abhors vacuum, and that,  was what necessitated the meeting. He said the Vice President of (FUNMDA) Mr. Paul Uchedife, has been mandated by the constitution of the association to take over as acting president pending the election of another president. Ichie Kenneth Maduakor, the President General of Azia Community in Ihiala L.G.A of Anambra state, and a business mogul par excellence has called on Ndi Anambra to vote for a credible candidate into  position of authority as the Guber election in the state draws near. He asked Anambrians to stop the sale of their votes for a paltry sum of N5,000 or N10,000, as it amounts to the sale of their conscience, as the decision Anambrians take during the election  will determine how the next four years will be. Innoson Plaza in Nnewi, would have been fully gutted by a fire out break that hit the plaza mid afternoon, Friday last week, which started from the second floor of the plaza, at betnija’s office due to the  malfunction of a computer device, which sparked off fire in the three story building, along old Owerri road in Nnewi. A report into the regulatory concerns surrounding a charity run by Didier Drogba is due to be released by the Charity Commission in the UK, within a month. There was a report in April, which claimed that only £14,115 out of £1.7m donated to the Didier Drogba Foundation was utilise in the foundation to help causes in Africa. The Didier Drogba Foundation was set up in the Ivory Coast in 2007 and registered in the UK as a separate entity in 2009 to allow Drogba to raise funds while in England playing for Chelsea. The report necessitated an investigation into the allegation by The Charity Commission which said it was close to conclusion. However, 38-year-old Drogba who played for Chelsea said the story was “false and defamatory”. He previously said in a statement: “There is no fraud, no corruption, no mismanagement and no lies.” But an article by the Mail insisted that it “stands by every word of this important story” and had not alleged corruption or fraud. The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has announced Monday, Sept. 12 as the Eid-El-Kabir Day, 1437 AH. This followed the declaration of Saturday, Sept.3 as the 1st of Zulhijja, 1437 AH. Poultry farmers in Plateau state are facing double jeopardy: low patronage and escalating costs of feeding the birds. Mr John Dasar, Chairman, Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) in the state,  said the industry is facing ‘tough times’. He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Jos, that that situation was worsened by the sharp rise in the price of feeds. .“The market is indeed tough for us; market is low, while cost of production is high. Government must step in to help us,” he said. He attributed the low patronage to the poor purchasing power of most families occasioned by the worsening economic situation nationwide. He explained that low patronage had led to an excess in supply of poultry products, particularly eggs, compared to the demand. “Most farmers cannot cope and have shut down their farms. “The price of egg has gone so down that many of us cannot stay afloat,” he said.
