Group, Center for Strategic Leadership and Youth Orientation, CENSTLEYO, an NGO, Saturday, February 2, 2019, at the C.W.O Hall of Our Lady of Assumption Cathedral, Nnewi, Anambra State,  organised a Town Hall Electoral Debate/ Dialogue for candidates of the House of Representatives vying to represent Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Consitiuency. The presidential campaign team of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by its presidential candidate for the 2019 general election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Thursday, January 31, stormed Onitsha, the commercial nerve center of Anambra State, in continuation of its presidential campaign nationwide. The team which arrived the Centenary Field of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha, at about 5.30pm, has thousands of teaming supporters and party faithful on ground to welcome them. By Echezona Okafor A 22 year-old single mother identified as Happiness Mmadu, was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, NAUTH, Nnewi, on Wednesday, January 30, for allegedly conspiring with one Dorothy Sunday to sell her three day-old twin baby. Hospital management told our reporter that Dorothy, who said she hail from Izzi in Ebonyi State, entered the maternity ward of the hospital in the morning hours of Wednesday, and claimed that Happiness Mmadu was her sister. According to the source, a nurse went to dress the maternity bed where the twins were lying only to discover that one of the twin babies was no more there. "She raised alarm and nurses at the ward went after Dorothy, who was already approaching the hospital gate. "The nurses snatched her handbag, opened it and discovered that Dorothy hid the baby inside the bag; so, the baby was taken from her, and angry spectators pounced on her, beat her up stripped her, and was about setting

Police authorities in Anambra Sate have assured that the body will maintain neutrality and professionalism in the 2019 general elections in the state. The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Baba Umar Garba, gave the assurance on Wednesday, January 30, at the state headquarters in Awka, during an important meeting of  critical election stakeholders in preparation for the 2019 general election. The police boss assured that there will be level playing ground for all politicians and political parties participating in the polls; so that the legacy of free and fair election achieved by the Command during the recent governorship election in the state will not only be sustained during the general election but will also be consolidated. The CP assured that the Command will not leave any stone unturned in order to ensure the success of the election. The Anambra State Police Command, Friday, January 21, arrested one Friday Nwachukwu of Udorji Road, Ozubulu, in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State over alleged murder of one Isaac Ubah of Akwa village in the community. The suspect, according to our source, went to Akwa Village to arrest one Kelvin Ubah, who allegedly escaped arrest over yet to be ascertained offense but his brother, one Isaac Ubah, came out from the house  and demanded for reasons why the vigilante group are looking for his brother. Consequently, struggle ensued between them, and on the process, one of the vigilante members, Friday Nwachukwu, allegedly shot Isaac Ubah on his chest with a Pump Action gun and hurriedly left the scene. Police Patrol team attached to Ozubulu Division, which rushed to the scene took the victim to Access Hospital for treatment but the he was later certified dead by a medical doctor. President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended the Chief Justice of Nigeira (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, pending the completion of his trial at the Code of Condcut Tribunal. President Buhari announced  the suspension at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja today. He said the suspension followed the order of the CCT directing him to suspend Onnoghen, pending the completion of his trial. The President has sworn in Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed as the acting CJN. Mohammed who hails from Bauchi state is the most senior justice of the Supreme Court.
