Despite the market and economic uncertainty due to the coronavirus pandemic, investors expressed a lot of confidence in Nigeria’s debt market. The Debt Management Office (DMO) has announced an oversubscription of the third sovereign Sukuk for which it offered N150 billion to investors. The offer attracted a very high level of subscription from investors, with total subscriptions of N669.124 billion. This represents a subscription level of 446%. The DMO said, “This impressive demand for the Sukuk came from a wide range of investors which included Ethical Funds, Insurance Companies, Fund Managers and Retail Investors amongst others. Excitement rented the air when Traders in Nsukka Zone, known as Nsukka Zonal Amalgamated Traders Association* (NZATA) shared palliatives donated by Enugu State Government under the leadership of Rt. Anambra state government has shut down the popular Eke Awka Market in Awka Metropolis, over non compliance with directives of the state government on covid19 safety measures put in place by the state government. The European Commission has requested member-states to have their borders reopened, due to the improvement of COVID-19 situation. With the recent improvement seen in the COVID-19 situation, and in response to it, the European Commission announced on June 5, requesting member-states to have their borders reopened by July 1.
