Impeachment Plot: Why Aso Rock Won’t Allow Akpabio’s Removal

Indication emerged yesterday that the Presidency will not allow the impeachment of Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio in spite of grumblings among lawmakers. A Presidency source told this newspaper in confidence yesterday that the president was more inclined to saving Akpabio should moves to impeach him when the upper chamber resumes later this month as speculated. Hoodlums attack Police on Peacekeeping mission in Anambra state

There was pandamonium in Isuaniocha, Awka North Local Government area of Anambra State on Saturday when some suspected hoodlums invaded the town and opened fire on Police  operatives who were on a peace keeping mission  in the area.  An eye witness narrated that the hoodlums  came with three  tinted Hilux vehicles, One Lexus 330, three shuttle buses  and a Toyota Corolla car at about four o'clock in the evening . The situation caused panic in the area as road users,motorists, shop owners and residents scampered for safety. Speaking with journalists on telephone , the acting President General of Isuaniocha Community, Mr Friedrich Egwunwa described the incident as very unfortunate and an attempt by some criminal elements to wipe out the people of the town who had embraced peace. The Nigeria Police Force public relations officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has said they are waiting for singer Bella Shmurda, a close friend of late rapper Mohbad, to provide information to aid their investigation. Recall, that fast rising rapper, Mohbad died on Tuesday in a controversial manner. The police on Thursday said they have launched an investigation into the singer’s demise. The law enforcement agency had also called for individuals with useful information, especially friends and family members of the late rapper to come forward. UNDP, Others Train Police Officers On International Best Practices

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), German government and CLEEN Foundation have trained Nigeria Police Force personnel on attitude change and international best practices for police officers. Speaking at the event, UNDP ‘s senior police training advisor, Adewale Ajadi, said: “Our goal is to train police officers who will train other police officers on the latest laws and use and approach that is conducive for adult education so that the Nigeria Police can be a police force of the 21st century that Nigerians are looking for.
