Anambra Police Launch Crackdown on Cult Groups to Restore Peace and Security

In a bid to restore peace and security in Anambra State, the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered a clampdown on unlawful gatherings in the state. This decisive action follows intelligence reports suggesting that cult groups, particularly the Neo-Black Movement of Africa, plan to execute activities that could lead to public disorder. The police commissioner has stepped up security deployment, including the School Protection Squad, to prevent cult initiations and reprisals in student-populated areas. The operatives have been directed to be on the offensive, and covert operations will be conducted at motor parks, identified spots, and other areas to nip potential threats in the bud. Hotel and bar owners have also been alerted to refuse hosting gatherings associated with cult groups.
