NIDCOM Celebrates First Nigerian Female General In U.S. Army Zainab Sa’id and Margaret Ebeshi

  The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated Amanda Azubuike on her historic promotion to Brigadier General in the United States Army. At 57 years old, Azubuike is the first Nigerian woman to achieve this remarkable rank in the US Army, shattering glass ceilings and inspiring Nigerians worldwide. A’Ibom roads deserted as CP leads enforcement of third-party insurance

  The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, Baba Azare, on Saturday, led police officers to enforce the expiration of the third-party insurance policy. Our correspondent who monitored development reports that most of the major roads in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State have been deserted following the commencement of the exercise on  Saturday. The Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun had directed the police to commence enforcement of the mandatory third-party insurance nationwide on February 1st, 2025. The directive aimed to enforce road safety measures that vehicle owners comply with the stipulated insurance requirements to protect themselves and others on the road. The CP had held a meeting with the stakeholders where he briefed them on the enforcement and warned that any vehicle that failed to comply would be impounded. FRSC To Crack Down on Reckless Driving: Speed Limiters, Passenger Manifests Now Mandatory, Effective March 1st

In a bid to curb the rising number of road crashes, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Anambra Command has announced that it will begin enforcing compliance on the use of speed limit devices and passenger manifests starting March 1 2025. This move is aimed at reducing the number of accidents on roads, starting from Anambra,which have been attributed to reckless driving and non-compliance with safety regulations. According to Anambra Sector Commander, Mrs. Joyce Alexander, the low compliance rate among transporters and fleet operators is alarming, particularly with regards to the installation of speed limit devices and the inclusion of passengers' blood groups in manifests. These measures she said are crucial for quick identification and medical response in case of accidents. Alexander however warned that any fleet operator or motorist found violating these regulations will be arrested, emphasizing that such measures are vital to reducing road crashes and saving lives....

Tragedy Strikes on Oba Expressway: 4 Lives Lost in Fatal Crash

A devastating road traffic crash occurred on January 31, 2025, on Oba Expressway, near New Road Junction, resulting in the loss of four lives. The incident involved a private Toyota Hummer bus with registration number UWN763XA, a government-owned Toyota Hummer bus, and a Mercedes tipper.  According to reports from eyewitness, the probable cause of the crash was a route violation, leading to a head-on collision. Five male adults were involved in the crash, with one surviving injured. The rescue operation was carried out by Anambra State Anti-tout personnel, while the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) team managed traffic and cleared the crashed vehicles from the road. Chika Rita Okwuosa Foundation, BCROF, for the review of the Anambra State Emergency Management, ANSEMA Law, to accommodate a budget line for flood disaster mitigation activities in the state.
