Nwogu Christian Nwankwo,(Okiri Too Much) has emerged  winner of the keenly contested election of Nnewi/Onitsha brothers Union, the major transport union plying the Nnewi/Onitsha route axis in Anambra state. He defeated his closest rival with 193 votes to 58 votes. The election which took place at Ichi yesterday came with many interest's but the major interest was to elect a chairman who will represent the interest of the majority, reason why all drivers on that route came out in their numbers to perform their constitutional rights as members of the Union. The election by all standards was free, fair and credible as the process was transparent, which even made losers to congratulate winners. The Onitsha Police Area Command in a bid to  eliminate criminal elements intimidating and extorting people in Onitsha, the Anambra State commercial nerve centre have arrested over 80 hoodlums in the commercial town. The the clamp down on the hoodlums, said  a competent Police source commenced a fortnight ago and was being led by the Onitsha Area Command,Mr. John Obuagbaka, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). The arrests, according to our source, has shown the effort of the Area Commander to sanitize Onitsha of hoodlums who have vowed to make the  commercial city uncomfortable for the residents and visitors. The Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) IMO/Abia branch Chief R N J Anyanwu has lamented the deplorable state of the Onitisha road industrial layout situated at Irete near Owerri. He explained that the available industries in the layout, are faced by harsh environmental problems pointing out that among the challenges is the deplorable condition of the roads network in the industrial estate.   The All Progressives Congress on Wednesday says it cannot help the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, who has been denied a certificate of return as a senator-elect because he is still on suspension. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Isa-Onilu, said this at a Press conference in Abuja. He said the governor himself was aware of his suspension, hence, “he has not reported his dilemma to the party.” Isa-Onilu said, “We cannot take any position on that now. Governor Okorocha is on suspension. He, too, has not reported the case to us because he knows he is on suspension. “Until that is vacated, we can’t handle his case.”

The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Auchi in Edo State, Dr Momodu Sanusi Jimah has said sex for marks and sorting of lecturers by students in the school has become a thing of the past but that on the contrary, lecturers are now dragging students to management for attempting to compromise them. Speaking to journalists on the school’s coming convocation ceremonies, Jimah said 245 students would be graduating with distinctions in the 2017/2018 session adding that graduates of the school can defend their grades anywhere in the world.
