Panthers Sports Club Nnewi Elects New Exco




Panthers Sports Club Nnewi has elected, new set of leadership to pilot the affairs of the sports club for another 3 years.
 In his opening remarks before the election, the President of the Sports Club, Chief Emma Akunne, who was re-elected to pilot the affairs of Club for another 3 years, thanked members of the club and his executive for a job well done, and called on the electoral committee chairman Barrister Ike Obeta, to commence proceedings for the election.

The positions contested for are President, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer, PRO, Provost I II III, Captain and Deputy Captain, Social Secretary, Chief Welfare Officer, and Majority Leader of the Club.

In a keenly contested election, which was free and fair by all standards, the immediate past President, Chief Emma Akune, was re-elected by 27 votes out of 30 votes, while Chief Osita  Oraegbu emerged as Vice President with 27 votes. Ezeugwunne Ikenna Emmanuel, emerged the secretary with 25 votes, among others.
While interacting with newsmen after the election, Chief Emma Akune, the newly elected President of the club, thanked members of the club for the way and manner they organized themselves throughout the duration of the election. He said that more work has been given to them, by electing them to pilot the affairs of the club for another three years.

Chief Akunne, said that the next three years will be fruitful as they have set in motion, modalities on how to build a lawn tennis court, before the end of 2019. He was however hopeful that other projects that needs attention will be put in place as soon as possible.

The Vice President elect, Chief Osita Oraegbu, was however elated and happy for giving them the opportunity to pilot the affairs of the club for another term. He said that more responsibility amounts to more work. He therefore thanked members of the club for the support they gave them in the last dispensation and called on them to continue in the same vain.

The Secretary of the electoral committee while interacting with Nigerian Notch, thanked God for the wisdom given to them in conducting the election,and also thanked members of their club for the support, without which, they won't have achieved much. He therefore called on members to continue supporting the Chief Emma Akunne led exco to take them to greater heights.

BREAKING: 2Baba Shot Dead In Rivers State

A notorious cult leader and the prime suspect in the brutal murder of the late Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, in the state, Gift Okpara, popularly referred to as 2Baba, has been reportedly killed in a police-led major security raid. The police and other security agencies were said to have conducted land and aerial raids at the identical hideout of the Iceland cult leader and his gang at Idu-Ekpeye in Ahoada East local government area of Rivers on Saturday, February 17. According to  The Nation , the Iceland cult leader was reportedly feared dead after the operation.   Recall that in September 2023, the late DPO was ambushed and captured by the cult group led by 2Baba in the Odiemudie community, Ahoada East LGA.   2Baba and his gang then took the DPO to the forest, where they killed him and dismembered his body. The cultists then filmed him. Another source, Obi, said he saw no less than 15 vehicles and an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) during the operation.
