NAFDAC holds sensitization workshop in Awka, Warns on Dangers of Drug Hawking & Ripening of Fruits with Carbide

The Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Moji Christianh Adeyeye, yesterday held the south east NAFDAC media sensitization workshop on the dangers of drug Hawking and ripening of fruits with calcium carbide in Awka Anambra state. She used the occasion to call on media practitioners in the south east and beyond to be worthy partners in creating awareness about dangers of patronizing people hawking drugs in streets and markets;as well as those selling fruits ripen with calcium carbide. Flashback to August 17, 2019, a piece of very disturbing news filtered in that a frontline Igbo son, the then deputy president of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu was mobbed while attending an Igbo cultural festival in Germany. This news was quickly followed by video evidence of the sad event, a video that set off ripples across the globe. This unfortunate event quickly spread fear in the entire southeast region of Nigeria and provided cannon fodder for the criminal elements that were terrorising the region to up their ante and deepen the scourge of physical and mental siege on Ndi Igbo. Int’l Day of Cooperatives: Anambra govt partners cooperatives on food security

Anambra has joined the rest of the world to marks 2023 International Cooperative Day today (Saturday), the State Government through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is currently seeking partnership with the Cooperative societies operating in the state on food sufficiency and security.  The State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr Christian Udechukwu, disclosed this at Ekwueme Square Awka, venue of this year’s celebration. The Senate yesterday entered the fifth day of the screening of the ministerial nominees forwarded to it by  President Bola Tinubu for screening and subsequent confirmation. The Senate commenced the screening exercise with Lola Ade-John,  the ministerial nominee from Lagos State after its almost two hours closed-door meeting. The Screening which started 3 pm, came to an end at 7.19 pm, just as in between the process, the Senate went on break at 5.05 pm and returned at 5.45 pm. President Tinubu had earlier sent a list of 28 ministerial nominees followed by a supplementary list of 19 nominees last Wednesday to the Senate for screening. Also screened yesterday were Bosun  Tijani from Ogun  State; Dr Isiak  Salako,  Ogun;  Prof. Tahir  Mamman,  Adamawa; and  Uba Maigari  Ahmadu, Taraba.
