Imo State is yet again enjoying dividends of Democracy from the Federal Government through the interventions of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma as the President has approved the construction of a 10Mwatts Hydropower Generating Plant at Otamiri and Nworie Rivers. Governor Hope Uzodimma disclosed this at the preliminary luncheon for the 62nd Independence Day Thanksgiving Mass, where he hosted Ndi Imo at the Government House Banquet Hall.  According to the Governor, the Hydro Power Generating plant at Otamiri and Nworie Rivers, is geared towards generating and supplying uninterruptible power supply within Owerri Metropolis and beyond.  The Governor added that with the recent approval for the dredging of Orashi River into the Atlantic Ocean, the Government has plans to float the Orashi Free Trade Zone for Oil and Gas. EIGHT ARRESTED FOR VANDALISM The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has attributed the service disruptions experienced in some parts of its network to activities of vandals, even as it confirmed the apprehension of eight suspected vandals for their involvement in the attack of electrical installations belonging to EEDC. This disclosure was made on Thursday through a statement issued by the Head, Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr. Emeka Ezeh. In the statement, Ezeh lamented bitterly on how the increasing rate of vandalism has adversely affected the company’s service delivery to its customers. He also commended the support of critical stakeholders and the various vigilante groups in nipping this ugly trend in the bud, even as he confirmed that most of the arrests were made by the vigilant groups. The Imo State Government has called for the arrest and questioning of one Ikenga Ugochinyere for claiming that Voter Registration in Omuma, the home Ward of Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State was inflated with fictitious names. The Imo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba made the call on Friday September 16, 2022 during a media conference that "ignoring the spurious and seditious outburst of Ugochinyere will amount to condoning criminality."
