Reviving Ailing Livestock Sector Of Our Economy - Moving Imo Beyond Oil

From Agunwa Emeka Nzeribe Making a swipe of new ideas and innovations has become both trendy and fashionable in our contemporary society. Our people, generally it seems, do not have the patience of giving government policies hitherto unknown to them the benefits of doubt. Understandably therefore, when the Executive Governor of Imo State Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma created the Ministry of Livestock Development, a good number of the state population misconstrued the idea. The avalanche of criticisms nonetheless, the governor, as a deep thinker with a penchant to read the future with flawless accuracy, also as an astute  administrator whose only  interest is to liberate the state from the stranglehold of crude oil and federal allocation as its only source of income, had gone ahead, as a follow up, to appoint a quintessential homegrown farmer for the novel Ministry. The new Commissioner,  mandated with the  onerous task of rediscovering, reviving and rehabilitating  the ail

100 DAYS IN OFFICE: WHY GOVERNOR HOPE UZODIMMA DESERVES THUMBS-UP (2)

By Collins Ughalaa From the look of things, a genuine assessment of the performance of Governor Hope Uzodimma in his 100 Days in Office would be like assessing the performance of a governor during wartime. While no part of Nigeria is at war as we know it, the whole country is fighting the coronavirus war. This pandemic, the first of its kind in contemporary history, is a war of sort. The entire world is fighting an invisible enemy, shooting without bullets and missiles. With the world economy down to its knees, schools and worship centers closed, businesses and offices closed, everyone ordered to stay at home, and hunger and uncertainty ravaging, there can never be a bigger war. With the price of oil, which is the mainstay of many economies, at all-time low, many consider the coronavirus war as more vicious. To properly conduct a fair assessment of the Governor, therefore, we must put in perspective how he is prosecuting the covid-19 war in the state. The Governor had on several

ON THE 100DAYS IN OFFICE OF DIST. SENATOR HOPE UZODINMMA AS GOVERNOR OF IMO STATE

By. F. U. Edwards. When you want to compare two elements, it would be fair if the variables are of the same or are placed on similar condition. If two students, *Student A* and *Student B* writes an exam, and *Student A* performs beyond *Student B* in the exam,  it will never be wrong if *Student B* is scolded for performing badly. But what if *Student A and B* are writing same exam but in different centers, and in the center of *Student A*, the environment was calm and conducive as for an exam with extra time given to cross check all works before submitting the script,  while in the center of *Student B*,  five minutes into the exams,  there was a hitch which prompted a fight in the exam hall, guns were used and the police were involved which warranted the scripts to be collected and the exams ending abruptly. You see, it will only take the grace of God for *Student B's* performance to be at par with *Student A*. This is not excuse, it is reality. That is why professional

Mallam Abba Kyari: A Great Public Servant

.......tribute by Malam Mamman Daura_ Coronavirus is a law, yet lawless unto itself. As of yesterday it had claimed 183,424 lives worldwide and 28 Nigerians. One of those lives lost was Malam Abba Kyari’s, Chief of Staff to the President. Malam Abba succumbed to complications after contracting and recovering from Coronavirus a week today. Malam Abba Kyari was a man blessed with mountainous gifts and uncommon attributes of intelligence, diligence, hard work, loyalty to friends and worthy causes. One could exhaust superlatives to do him full justice. I first set eyes on Malam Abba about 47 years ago. I was at my desk at the New Nigerian newspapers office scribbling something or other when the gate messenger brought a sheet of paper with a name “Abba Kyari Chima” wanting to see the Editor. When he came in he looked winsome and slightly diffident. After pleasantries I wanted to know his reason for coming to New Nigerian. He said he read and liked an Editorial in the paper a few
