Oko Polytechnic Holds 36th Matriculation Ceremony, Urge Students to be good Ambassadors.


The Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, has held its 36th matriculation, where students were urged to show utmost determination, hard work, focus and commitment towards achieving their goals in the institution. 

The institution also tasked parents and teachers to put in their best to ensure that  students tow the path of diligence, which will in turn establish them to find their place in a fast changing world which is becoming challenging with its attendant hiccups and whirlwinds, occasioned by ICT and the internet.

Dr Francisca Unoma, Nwafulugo the rector of the polytechnic who made the call during the 36th Matriculation Ceremony of the institution held yesterday at the Oko campus of the polytechnic, stressed that it has become imperative that students of the institution to tow the line of hardwork and perseverance in achieving their aims as students in the citadel of learning.

She said that "As I sincerely congratulate all our new intakes for their choice of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, and your desire to continue your education, I can easily call your attention to what the polytechnic is not, will never be and will not tolerate:

"The institution is definitely not a dumping ground for anyone to while away his time;   it is not a place to shift the crisis of the homes; it is not a place to join cult groups or get entangled with other nefarious activities.

"Kindly note that the Federal Poly, Oko, has zero tolerance for cultism in whatever shape or form. It is not a place to cheat in exams or exhibit evil. If you're caught in exam malpractice, you will be expelled.

"To our dear patents and guardians, you must not leave your children at the mercy of peer influence. This is a time of continuous guidance and prayers for your children and wards. They need your good counsel and advice. They are in need of your support and direction in the seamy battle for existence.

"On our part as lecturers and staff, we owe it a duty to put in our utmost best to humanise some  of the coarse ways of our students, establish them to find their place in a fast changing world. 

She maintained that "We shall not disappoint the parents and guardians, who have spent their energy and resources to have their children pass through the four walls of the institution."

She further promised that the management of the institution would provide the ambiance for the realisation of their aspirations in all their endeavor in the institution.

Some of the students, who spoke to Nigerian Notch, expressed their joy for gaining admission  into the institution, and promised to do their best to adhere to the regulations of the polytechnic.

They thanked the management of the institution for finding them worthy to be great ambassadors of the institution, and promised not to fail them, and their parents. Some parent's that interacted with Nigerian Notch were elated for the new role, they have been given as parents and promised to ensure that their children and wards follow to the letter the rules and regulations of the institution.

BREAKING: 2Baba Shot Dead In Rivers State

A notorious cult leader and the prime suspect in the brutal murder of the late Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, in the state, Gift Okpara, popularly referred to as 2Baba, has been reportedly killed in a police-led major security raid. The police and other security agencies were said to have conducted land and aerial raids at the identical hideout of the Iceland cult leader and his gang at Idu-Ekpeye in Ahoada East local government area of Rivers on Saturday, February 17. According to  The Nation , the Iceland cult leader was reportedly feared dead after the operation.   Recall that in September 2023, the late DPO was ambushed and captured by the cult group led by 2Baba in the Odiemudie community, Ahoada East LGA.   2Baba and his gang then took the DPO to the forest, where they killed him and dismembered his body. The cultists then filmed him. Another source, Obi, said he saw no less than 15 vehicles and an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) during the operation.
