ASUP STRIKE: NWAJIUBA CLEARS AIR ON POSITION OF FG


The Hon. Minister of State for Education Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba has made it clear that the Federal Government has agreed to all the demands of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics which led to the ongoing strike by the union. 


He made this known while addressing protesting Polytechnics Students who came from different states of the country to express their grievances over the lingering strike, at the Federal Ministry of Education Headquarters in Abuja.


The Honourable Minister of State for Education, maintained that the Federal Government has written to ASUP severally since they embarked on the strike, appealing to them to reopen the Polytechnics for the future of students in the various institutions across the country.


According to Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba "though the Federal Government has played its part through the Federal Ministry of Education, it cannot coerce ASUP to reopen the Polytechnics.


Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba who enumerated all the contending issues such as: visitation panels for Polytechnics, constitution of Governing Councils among others, went ahead to present to the protesting students the latest letter written by Federal Ministry of Education on behalf of Federal Government to ASUP in order to prove to the Polytechnics Students the commitment of the Federal Government towards ending the impasse. 


Responding, the protesting Polytechnics Students who spoke through one of their Student Union leaders from Delta State appreciated the Minister for finding time and deeming it fit to clarify all the issues to the students.

BREAKING: 2Baba Shot Dead In Rivers State

A notorious cult leader and the prime suspect in the brutal murder of the late Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, in the state, Gift Okpara, popularly referred to as 2Baba, has been reportedly killed in a police-led major security raid. The police and other security agencies were said to have conducted land and aerial raids at the identical hideout of the Iceland cult leader and his gang at Idu-Ekpeye in Ahoada East local government area of Rivers on Saturday, February 17. According to  The Nation , the Iceland cult leader was reportedly feared dead after the operation.   Recall that in September 2023, the late DPO was ambushed and captured by the cult group led by 2Baba in the Odiemudie community, Ahoada East LGA.   2Baba and his gang then took the DPO to the forest, where they killed him and dismembered his body. The cultists then filmed him. Another source, Obi, said he saw no less than 15 vehicles and an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) during the operation.
