THE WORLD CLASS FLOOD MANAGEMENT SYSTEM BUILT BY SEN. HOPE UZODIMMA

The perennial flooding witnessed in Imo State overtime has casted a shadow of uncertainty in the minds of the residents especially when it gets cloudy, residents begin to thinker what might become of their properties and for vehicle owners who might get caught up with the downpour while driving, the condition of the vehicle is first on their mind.

This no doubt became a huge task for the Shared Prosperity led Administration to tackle upon assumption of office, but in his usual manner not daunted by this task, the Governor immediately swung into action to arrest the ugly situation gathering professionals to come up with a plan to find a lasting solution.

In as much as it is a natural occurrence, it remains the responsibility of man to manage this ecological situation squarely for the safety and survival of the living. This doesn't require rocket science but with power driven by the desire to serve the people and ensure impact over accolades.

After a thorough study and empirical review of the ugly ecological conditions that had caused an economic hardship and cut short life expectancy amongst residents, the Shared Prosperity Administration led by His Excellency,  Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, engaged the services of a renowned global construction company to immediately commence work.

Then came the Ballon Technology, designed to collate floods from Emekuku, Awaka, Egbu and her environs through Federal Housing Estate to Chukwuma Nwaoha road. The tunnel cuts cross Egbu road down to Otammiri with a filter at the discharge point.

However, it is pertinent to Note that from MCC by Chukwuma Nwaoha Junction, another underground tunnel is under construction, this  will connect at Dick Tiger by Chukwuma Nwaoha junction - this will collate flood from Orji, Aladimma, Prefab, Uratta and MCC road down to Chukwuma Nwaoha .

The 1.8m x 1.8m underground Balloon Tunnel starts from Dick Tiger street stretching to the green verge at Chukwuma Nwaoha road and then heads to Otamiri river. In addition, another 900mm x 900mm drainage system is constructed from Chukwuma Nwoha at MCC stretching across Relief Market, Dick Tiger and Methodist Bustop, channeling the flood down to the Tunnel and evacuated through to Ottamiri River.

As important as this is, His Excellency has made it a point of duty to inspect this gigantic and laudable project on a routine basis. The completion of this world class flood management system in Imo State would effectively and adequately offer lasting solution to the flood issue in the state. With the global migration into the world of recycling, the Imo State Government is implementing a recycling system that would ensure the collated floods are recycled for use by the Imo State Water Corporation.

With this technological application in salvaging the flood crises in the state, the Shared Prosperity Administration led by His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has once again decorated the people of Imo State with joy and happiness as the enemy to economic growth and livelihood has been put under check.
