March 17: Expectations Are High, Bishop Ezeokafor Tells APGA Govt



...Advises Them Not to Lower Standard

As Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State prepares to handover to the Governor-Elect, Prof Chukwuma Soludo on March 17 2022, the Catholic bishop of Awka Diocese His Lordship Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor, has exhortated the leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA led Anambra State Government not to lower the standard of governance in the State, saying that the trust and confidence repose in the party by the electorate should not be taken for granted.

 Bishop Ezeokafor who stated this at St. Patrick's Catholic Cathedral, Awka during a victory Thanksgiving Mass organized in the honour of APGA, Anambra State Chapter said that the APGA's feat in the last gubernatorial election was destined by God. 

'Your victorious outing in the last gubernatorial election in the state was made possible by God. It was a hard-fought victory. We all witnessed what happened before the election. I'm not a card carrying member of any political party but I watch and monitor political proceedings. 

'Last guber election was not easy for APGA. Ndi Anambra voted because of  what they believe the party has done over the years. We want that continued.  You must continue to provide that dividends of democracy to the people. Expectations are high,' he said. 

The outspoken Cleric admonished them to guard the mandate given to them by Ndi Anambra jealously and judiciously.  

The Charismatic and Influential Prelate charged the party's hierarchy to continue to work for the greater good of the people, saying that the electorate voted for them to continue and improve on their good works in the state. 

He  explained that victory which he described as hard fought should not be toyed with, advising that the welfare of the people of Anambra State should be first in their agenda. Bishop Ezeokafor commended the APGA leadership for coming to appreciate God for what He had done for the party. 

Speaking the Chairman,APGA, Anambra State Chapter, Sir Norbert Obi thanked the bishop for the words of admonitions and encouragements, assuming that the party would continue to churn out quality leadership in the state. 

Some of those who attended the Thanksgiving Mass included, the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Awka Catholic Diocese, Very Rev Fr Francis Chidume, the former Senator Representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Chief Sir Victor Umeh,OFR, the deputy Governor-Elect, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, the member representing Njikoka II in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Sir Pete Ibida, Transition Committee Chairman of Awka South LGA, Hon Leo Nwuba, ANSAA Boss, Sir Jude Emecheta, among others.

BREAKING: 2Baba Shot Dead In Rivers State

A notorious cult leader and the prime suspect in the brutal murder of the late Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, in the state, Gift Okpara, popularly referred to as 2Baba, has been reportedly killed in a police-led major security raid. The police and other security agencies were said to have conducted land and aerial raids at the identical hideout of the Iceland cult leader and his gang at Idu-Ekpeye in Ahoada East local government area of Rivers on Saturday, February 17. According to  The Nation , the Iceland cult leader was reportedly feared dead after the operation.   Recall that in September 2023, the late DPO was ambushed and captured by the cult group led by 2Baba in the Odiemudie community, Ahoada East LGA.   2Baba and his gang then took the DPO to the forest, where they killed him and dismembered his body. The cultists then filmed him. Another source, Obi, said he saw no less than 15 vehicles and an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) during the operation.
