- Introducing Dr. Chinedu Anthony Umeadi, Agunaechemba 1 of Abagana.

High Chief Dr. Chinedu Anthony Umeadi, a Medical Doctor with many years of experience in medical practice, leadership, management, research, teaching, mentoring and service development. He hails from Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, and was born on 19th June, 1975.


Growing up, Dr. Chinedu Umeadi attended Federal Government College, Okigwe in Imo State from 1986 to 1992. He gained admission into Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka in Anambra State to study Microbiology and Brewing in 1994 but left in his second year for Abia State University, Uturu, Abia State after gaining admission to study Medicine at the university.

He graduated from Abia State University Medical School in 2000. Dr. Umeadi did his internship at Federal Medical Center, Owerri, Imo State in 2001. He also did his Youth Service at New Owerri General Hospital, Umuguma Owerri in 2002. He then worked at Ruz Medical Center, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory in 2003 before travelling to the United Kingdom (UK) to further his studies in 2004.


Oversees, Dr. Umeadi initially attended the prestigious Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine where he obtained a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene in 2004. He then proceeded to study at the University of Liverpool where he obtained a Master's Degree in Public Health in 2006.


He later moved to the Republic of Ireland where he started his Residency Program in Mental Health, thereafter returning to the United Kingdom to complete the program. Dr. Umeadi obtained a Diploma in Clinical Psychiatry from Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2008. He then became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, United Kingdom in 2010. He thereafter started working as a Consultant in Mental Health in the United Kingdom after completing his residency program.


Dr. Umeadi later enrolled in a PhD programme in Public Health with Epidemiology Specialization with Walden University, Minneapolis, United States of America in 2010 and completed the program in 2015. There he obtained a PhD in Public Health.


Dr. Chinedu Umeadi's professional career spans clinical tropical medicine, mental health, forensic medicine, public health, research, teaching, leadership, and management. He has worked as Public Health Specialist, a Forensic Medical Examiner, and a Consultant in Mental Health till date. He is a leading figure in the area of Service Development. He has worked across different parts of the World including Nigeria, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, and Canada; and has held several top management posts over the course of his career.


Dr. Umeadi moved to Canada in 2019 and has since become a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Mental Health in the Department of Psychiatry, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University, London, Ontario, Canada.


Even though Dr. Umeadi practices in Canada, he regularly runs Charity programs in Nigeria through his foundation, the Dr. Chinedu Umeadi Foundation. The foundation gives scholarships to students in Secondary Schools, Universities, and beyond. The foundation provides education materials/equipments for schools, runs medical outreach programs , builds and empowers the youth, and supports less privileged people including the disabled. The foundation also contributes in the development of communities. 

He has been involved in mentoring young professionals and young people in general over the years and is an adept proponent of human and organizational capacity building.


Dr. Umeadi has amassed awards and recognitions for excellence and dedication to duty over the course of his career as a Consultant in Mental Health, Forensic Medical Examiner, Public Health Specialist, Researcher, Lecturer and Administrator.


His charity works have not gone unrecognized. He has received Honors and Awards from different organizations including higher institutions, religious organizations, communities, and government establishments.

Dr. Umeadi was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree by Abia State University in November 2019 for services to Humanity and contributions to Education.

He was also installed as a High Chief with title 'Agunaechemba 1 of Abagana' by the Abagana community in December, 2019 for his services to Humanity and involvement in the community development.

He was recognized by the former Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Dr. Willie M. Obiano (Akpokuodike) in 2021 as one of the education builders in Anambra State and an award of honour given to him in that regard.

In the same 2021, Dr. Umeadi was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists UK as a mark of distinction and recognition of his contributions to Psychiatry over a ten-year period.


Dr. Umeadi remains committed to service to humanity and community development, and has declared his interest in representing the people of Anambra Central Senatorial District in the 10th Assembly.

He has vowed to lead his people to the right destination through the right path.

BREAKING: 2Baba Shot Dead In Rivers State

A notorious cult leader and the prime suspect in the brutal murder of the late Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, in the state, Gift Okpara, popularly referred to as 2Baba, has been reportedly killed in a police-led major security raid. The police and other security agencies were said to have conducted land and aerial raids at the identical hideout of the Iceland cult leader and his gang at Idu-Ekpeye in Ahoada East local government area of Rivers on Saturday, February 17. According to  The Nation , the Iceland cult leader was reportedly feared dead after the operation.   Recall that in September 2023, the late DPO was ambushed and captured by the cult group led by 2Baba in the Odiemudie community, Ahoada East LGA.   2Baba and his gang then took the DPO to the forest, where they killed him and dismembered his body. The cultists then filmed him. Another source, Obi, said he saw no less than 15 vehicles and an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) during the operation.
