IMO STATE UNIVERSITY MEDICAL COLLEGE GAINS FULL NUC ACCREDITATION AFTER 6YRS

It is worth celebrating and a milestone achievement for the shared prosperity government of Gov. Hope Uzodimma as Imo State University College of medicine gains full NUC accreditation after 6years.

The loss of accreditation had lingered asIMO STATE UNIVERSITY MEDICAL COLLEGE GAINS FULL NUC ACCREDITATION AFTER 6YRS previous administrations did little or nothing to salvage the school from this cancerous issue which has successfully kept medical students from graduating even after completing their studies.

While it became obvious that the abeyance of the medical study was as a result of lack of basic infrastructure and failure to procure medical equipments to the standard of a University medical college, Imo State University Medical College was not spared by Nigeria University Commission (NUC) and became an example of everything bad in the medical cum education sector.

The prompt intervention of Gov. Hope Uzodimma in ugly situation has proven not to be rhetoric but action filled. On assumption of office, the Governor undertook an assessment visit to the college wherein he decried the state of affairs on ground and ordered for a rejig in the administration and overall state of the college while he assured the students of making sure they graduate.

Within the first 1yr, the college was able to graduate 2 sets of Medical doctors to the Glory of God.

He immediately constructed access roads to the Medical college.

Today, it has become a reality not just that the students have started graduating but the medical college now enjoys a full NUC accreditation and can admit and graduate students at will. This is a feat that will remain indelible in the minds of the students and a credit to this administration.

Gov. Hope Uzodimma’s achievements in the education sector has continued to stand him out as a leader who is very much committed towards changing the education landscape in the state which had been battered and this is a pointer to better days ahead especially for the medical institution.
