Yesterday being 5th of November 2022, marked a beehive of activities as Nnewi People from all walks of life assembled at the NAF conference centre ,Kado ,Abuja , to give awards to some.of their illustrious sons as well as unveil the proposed building of a befitting edifice to be called Nnewi House in Abuja.


The event tagged the 750 Million Naira Nnewi House Fundraising Dinner And Award Night , was organised by the Nnewi community meeting in Abuja and chaired by Professor Kingsley Moghalu with Professor ABC Nwosu as the Guest Speaker. 


In his welcome speech at the Occasion, the Chairman of the Nnewi Community meeting in Abuja ,Architect Ede Ikeotuonye said that Nnewi as a town is long over due to have a befitting building in the Nation's capital ,Abuja. 


The Guest Speaker, Professor ABC Nwosu during his speech ,went down memory lane and recounted the various exploits from great men and women of Nnewi extraction in the past .He called on Nnewians to join hands together in promoting the  spirit of oneness, so that they can continue to grow from strength to even greater strength. 


The Chairman of the Occasion, Professor George Moghalu, ably represented by the former Commissioner for Public Complaints, Prince Samben Nwosu also took out time to extol the wonderful exploits by the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Ubah and his service delivery to the zone .


While handing the award of excellence to the Distinguished Senator,  the Paramount ruler of Nnewi,  Igwe Kenneth Orizu (III)  who was ably represented by Crown Prince Charles Obi Orizu (Obinaechendo) also took out time to extol his wonderful performances  so far at the Senate, and applauded him for making Nnewi people proud of what he is doing in the Senatorial District. 


Senator Ubah while accepting the award, expressed his gratitude to the organisers of the event and went on to inform the audience that the award will spur him to do even more for the people of the District and ndi Nnewi in particular. 


" I came into politics after years of sponsoring poliitcal office holders because I wanted to show our people that performing in office is not rocket science, but a function of how genuine your intentions are for seeking to serve the people. I intend to leave an enduring legacy of service and economic empowerment after my two terms at the Senate and then go back to my businesses" . Senator Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah said .


While unveiling the prototype of the would be edifice , Senator Ubah promised to inject One Hundred Million Naira towards the project and also do everything within his power to help the Nnewi Community In Abuja  actualize its dreams of having a befitting edifice in its name, in the Nation's capital, just as he was able to mobilise his friends in building and furnishing hospitals in Awka and Nnewi during the Covid  19 Pandemic .He charged the Chairman of the Community,  to work hard towards ensuring that the 98th birthday of the paramount ruler of Nnewi Community was celebrated with the building either completed or nearing completion, he concluded

Tension In Uruagu Nnewi As Community Leaders Dare Soludo,Defy Court Order

The President of Uruagu-Nnewi Development Union, Chief Sunday Okoli aka Organizer, and the Obi of Uruagu-Nnewi community in Nnewi North local government area of Anambra State, His Majesty Afamefuna Charles Obi, have swept Soludo's directive to the gutters, by reason of their suspension and subsequent dessolution of the leadership of the community's youth forum, led by Ejike Ifejiofor, and subsequent appointment of caretaker executive to pilot the affairs of youths in the community.
