...... Commends Senator Ubah for his proactive measures to safeguard Anambra South Senatorial District
The former police service commission boss, Chief Simon Okeke has called on south east governor's to form a synergy towards tackling the rising rate of insecurity in the zone, as that is the only way to fish out the culprits and clear criminals and criminal elements from the south east. The former PSC boss made this known in an interview with select journalists at his country home, Akatar Lodge in Amichi, Nnewi South LGA of Anambra state.
He opined that, its indeed a matter of necessity, that they should come together to fight security issues in the zone " this should not be a battle for one state government to fight, it should be a corporative work, the south east governor's should come together and work in synergy to fortify the zone and clean up the south east from criminal elements".
He stressed that there is a lot to be done security wise, in combating crime in the south east. He however commended them for their individual efforts but urged them to work together despite coming from different political parties, as that is the only way to defeat these criminals. He however commended Governor Charles Soludo and the Anambra Vigilant Group for the good work they are doing and tasked them to double their efforts for the security of Anambra's homeland. He also in a special way commended Senator Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah for his doggedness in seeing a peaceful Anambra South Senatorial District, which he represents and on the proactive measures he has taken to see that the zone is safe. He urged him to work with stakeholders in the state to further improve on the security situation in the state, as there is no place like home.
On the issue of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Chief Okeke said that he has personally called on governor's from the south east to come together and join forces with elder statesmen like him to meet with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as he believes the President will do the needful for peace to rain in the south east.
He however lamented a situation where the police in the south east has become invisible, which he said formed the major problem of insecurity in the zone. He therefore called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), and the IGP Olukayode Egbetokun to open up the police stations, send men of the force to divisional offices, with arms that has been merged into area commands, so that the once peaceful south east can come back to what it used to be. He said " it's unfortunate that the entire south east has no police and in a situation where there is no police, it's anarchy, it's not right, and that is why most people are afraid of coming out on Mondays, although the issue of unknown gunmen has subsided. They have to open up the divisional police stations instead of merging them into area commands"
He also bared his mind on national issues, especially as it affects Igbo's. He said that the Alaba Demolition issue is misconstrued, as he has done a proper investigation on the matter and found out that those who are crying, built on the swamp because they didn't get allocation to build on the original design of the market, and the place they built on is now sinking, which prompted authorities in Lagos with no other option, than to demolish the buildings to safeguard human life. He said that there is no truth in what we see on social media, as he has also gotten information from the past and present President's of the market on the true position of things in the market.
Chief Simon Okeke however commended the new government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for starting right, while insisting that the matter in court should have been dispensed with before swearing in a new President abinitio. He stressed that the appointments so far has been balanced and called on the new government to work for the interest of Nigerians.
