The collaboration and teamwork among the SA on University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Hon. Ezekiel Chukwukere, SA on Agriculture II, Dr. Chris Washington Igbozuruike and SA on Agriculture III, Chief Bernard Nwanana has started yielding fruits as they met with the stakeholders of Hope Farmers' Movement (HOFAM) in Owerri yesterday. It was a moment of joy for farmers when they saw their patron in their midst.

In his remark, SA on University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Hon. Chukwukere stated that the three (3) SAs supposed to be on ground, however; Dr.  Chris Washington was unavoidably absent due to official engagement.

HOFAM Coordinator, Amb. Innocent Dike appreciated their presence, and informed them that the people here are conglomerate of real farmers in different fields. He further asserted that ''we are not ghost farmers, but real ones and enjoined the SAs to support them as farmers have resolved to vote Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodinma in November Imo State gubernatorial election.

Chief Nwanana in his response, called on HOFAM stakeholders to ensure that all LGAs and wards are duly represented in their group. He said that Governor Uzodinma does not make empty promises; he is certain on providing agric loans for farmers in the State. This has prompted the ongoing registration of farmers in the State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources. He advised the farmers to try and get registered.

In fact, it was a gathering of farmers who turned out in large number and promised to give Governor Uzodinma over 10,000 votes in his reelection bid. Hon. Chukwukere informed them that he will inform the governor about their concerns. There would be efforts also to inform the Commissioner of Agriculture to allow farmers to register through their association heads. Hon. Chukwukere maintained that the essence of 5billion Agric Loan is to ensure food security in Imo State. He described Governor Uzodinma as a man of his words who delivers when promise is made. He further advised farmers to revive some of the crops and plants which are going into extinction such as pumpkin, cocoa yam, palm wine tree, oil bean and so on. Farmers were also admonished to desist from farming vegetables with synthetic fertilizer which has negative health implications.

In their closing remarks, Chief Nwanana and Hon. Chukwukere promised to take the message of farmers to the Governor.
