...Assures On Better Working Environment For Security Agencies  President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio has assured security agencies in Akwa Ibom State of his continued support for their welfare, just as he commended the State Police Commissioner, Baba Mohammed Azare and his men for maintaining peace and security in the state. The youth wing of the Anambra State Town Union Council (ASTUC) on Saturday staged a solidarity rally in Awka, declaring their support for the continuation of the Agunaechemba and Udo Ga-Achi security operatives. They cautioned politicians against politicising insecurity ahead of the November 8 governorship election. The rally followed a protest the previous day, led by the Young Progressive Party (YPP) governorship candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, who demanded the disbandment of Agunaechemba and the Special Anambra Anti-Touting Squad (SASA) over alleged misconduct by some members. The Anambra State Police Command has arraigned four suspects for alleged involvement in separate cases of defilement. The suspects were brought before the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court in Awka on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, and were remanded at the Correctional Centre pending further proceedings. Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to protect children and other vulnerable groups in the state. He also warned that anyone found guilty of such crimes would face the full weight of the law. “This Command will not tolerate any form of abuse against children and other vulnerable members of society. Offenders must know that their actions carry consequences, and we are determined to ensure that justice is served,” Orutugu said.
