The Anambra Leaders of Thought (ANALT), has commended the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Prince Kenneth Emekayi, and his team which includes Igwe Elect,Eze Chinenye Ihenko (Okpompi) Director of operations and Chief Monday Nwokoye Onwe Commander Anti kidnapping and Anti Touting respectively, especially the success they achieved in securing Anambra communities and leading the Awa Community operation few days ago
The group in a statement in Awka signed by their President, High Chief Uzoma Anunihu and the secretary, Mazi Chika Udemadu, urged Emekayi and his team to maintain the tempo and avoid any political detractions from those who want to be Governor at all cost.
They urged the Governor to continue to support operatives of Agunaechamba especially in Local Government Areas where these criminals still operate especially, Ogbaru,Orumba North Ihiala Local Governments.
The leaders of Thought advised the Governor Soludo to review the salary paid to Agunaechamba from one hundred thousand naira (N100,000)to three hundred thousand naira(300,000) per a month to serve as an encouragement for the boys who risk their lives for Anambrarians especially now the Governorship election is around the corner.
They frowned against the unpatriotic elements calling for disbandment of Agunaechamba simply because few among them engage in unprofessional conduct, saying that there is no human organisation without bad eggs.
The group warned of the consequences that would follow if Agunechemba is jettisoned because the State Police Command lacked enough manpower that needed to tackle criminals in the State at this critical time of insecurity throughout the state.
It could be recalled that before the emergence of Agunaechamba in the State few years ago about 18 Local Government Areas were taken over by criminals masquerading as Unknown GunMen but now only two or three Local Government Areas are witnessing some criminal activities associated with these criminals, thanks to Agunaechamba and other security forces.
The group warned the YPP Governorship candidate, Mr Paul Chukwuma to desist from unnecessary political attention seeking by calling for disbandment of Agunaechamba.
"We don't know when he became a human rights activist and advocacy master, just because he is contesting for governorship election.
What is he saying about other national issues affecting Anambra State and the country at large?"
the group said.
They continued:"Security is a very critical issue that need not to be politicised at all.
What' is his position few days ago when the same Agunaechamba neutralised four criminals and recovered four Ak-47 riffles, 12 SUV cars parked inside the bush in Awa Community in Orumba North?"
The leader of Thought said the Governor should take a cue from the former governor of the Stste Mr Peter Obi who encouraged hardwork by giving N2 million for any security officer who recovered Ak-47 riffle and N1 million for pump Action riffles respectively.
He should equally publicly celebrate such operative with cash donation, as this would help to encourage them to do more in securing the State.
They appealed to Governor Soludo to look into the challenges facing these operatives especially these ones who sustained injuries during exchange of fire with criminals who are scattered in different hospitals in the State and provide insurance policy scheme for them.
Those who fell in active service, they said the governor should match words with actions, pleading that he looked into these challenges immediately without further delay, especially those whose remunerations have not been paid in the last 8 months.
