Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh, has departed the country for medical treatment of his protracted spinal cord ailment. The former PDP spokesman was sighted at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Wednesday evening on crutches, accompanied by some family members and close associates. Reprieve came to Metuh following December 16, Appeal Court judgement annulling his conviction by Justice Okon Abang on the grounds of bias, consequent upon which Justice Nkeonye Maha of the Federal High Court, on December 24, granted him bail, and ordered the release of his international passport for a period of 45 days to travel within and outside the jurisdiction of the court. It would be recalled that Justice Abang had rejected several applications by Metuh to travel for medical treatment. The National President of Ndiakwu Otolo Nnewi, Hon Jude Osumouh has restated the readiness of his community to officially open its ultra modern hall and event complex on the 31st of December 2020. He made this known yesterday, while interacting with newsmen at his office. He went down memory lane to recount the exploits Ndiakwu Otolo Nnewi community has made in the past in Nnewi, stressing that his community have also led the way for others to follow. He said as pacesetters, his community in 1973 established the first vigilante group in Nnewi to combat crime. The Managing Director (MD) of National Inland Water Ways (NIWA) Chief George Moghalu has called on Ndigbo to work hard in their bid towards ascending the presidency, in 2023. Chief Moghalu made this known in an interactive session with newsmen at his country home in Nnewi.
