240-bed NYSC Camp Isolation Centre Is Almost Ready

Ndi Anambra, we thank God that there is no recorded case of Coronavirus yet in the state as at 2nd April, 2020, and we pray and hope that it remains so.

However, we all need to prepare for any eventuality. Ndi Anambra MUST play their own part by obeying WHO, federal and state governments’ coronavirus advisory and directives for example, staying at home, washing our hands regularly with soap for 20 seconds each time, using hand sanitizers, stopping handshakes, hugs and kisses, maintaining social distances with people (6 feet), avoiding public gatherings, obeying boundary closure directive etc.

Anambra State Government is doing its bit too. The 240-bed NYSC Camp Isolation Centre is almost ready, likewise the facilities at Awka, Nnewi and Onitsha.

The state government has procured medical equipment and supplies and has launched a COVID-19 support fund among other measures including sharing of relief materials to the elderly (bags of rice etc), the economic stimulus package announced (tax refunds etc) for traders and business owners.

This time also calls for us as Ndi Anambra to be our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers according to the Igbo mantras of ‘Nwanne di n’mba’ and ‘Onye aghana nwanne ya’. Let us share our bread and other materials with our neighbours who may be lacking.

The dark season will not last in the name of Chukwu Okike Abiama, Amen.
