CP Kuryas, resume in Anambra,reads riot act to criminals.


The new Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Monday Bala Kuryas, has resumed in the state after the immediate past Commissioner of Police AIG John Abang  was promoted and transferred to zone 4 Markudi. In his first address to the press today, CP Kuryas reaffirmed his comittment to rid Anambra  of crime and criminal elements, as such laying the foundation for a crime free Anambra State.


CP Kuryas is the 29th Commissioner of Police in Anambra state. He opined that "In keeping with the vision of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, to make Nigeria a safe and secured place for economic development and growth, Anambra command under my watch, shall take drastic measures on crime. Therefore, all our efforts and energies shall be mobilised and deployed towards the prevention of crimes and successful apprehension of criminals that would test our resolve. 


"The command under my watch shall reinvigorate Operation Puff Adder II, and give it more bite to tackle cultism, robbery, kidnapping and illegal revenue collections, particularly in Onitsha, Nkpor, Obosi, Nnewi and others. 


"This is a clarion call to all the officers and men of the command to brace up for the task ahead. My advise to cultists, robbers, kidnappers and other hoodlums in the state is for them to have a rethink and purge themselves or relocate from the state," he warned.


He however commended his predecessor, AIG John Bassey Abang, as well as the state government for recording many successes in curbing armed robbery, cultism, and communal crisis in several areas across the state; arrest and prosecution of other capital offenders in crimes such as murder, robbery and rape, as well as general maintenance of law and order in the state, he further urged all personnel of the command to eschew corrupt practices and indiscipline in there interpersonal relationship with the general public.


He added, "The command under my watch will sustain the existing inter-agency collaboration and improve on our respect for the rule of law and fundamental human rights, in accordance with international best practices. 


"I want to assure Anambra people, both at home and in diaspora, that the command under my watch will continue to work assiduously to sustain the status of Anambra as the safest state in the country. It is also necessary to emphasise that the safety and security of lives and property in the state will not be possible without the cooperation of well meaning religious and community leaders," he concluded

BREAKING: 2Baba Shot Dead In Rivers State

A notorious cult leader and the prime suspect in the brutal murder of the late Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, in the state, Gift Okpara, popularly referred to as 2Baba, has been reportedly killed in a police-led major security raid. The police and other security agencies were said to have conducted land and aerial raids at the identical hideout of the Iceland cult leader and his gang at Idu-Ekpeye in Ahoada East local government area of Rivers on Saturday, February 17. According to  The Nation , the Iceland cult leader was reportedly feared dead after the operation.   Recall that in September 2023, the late DPO was ambushed and captured by the cult group led by 2Baba in the Odiemudie community, Ahoada East LGA.   2Baba and his gang then took the DPO to the forest, where they killed him and dismembered his body. The cultists then filmed him. Another source, Obi, said he saw no less than 15 vehicles and an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) during the operation.
