ALLOW THE WOMEN TO BREATHE - HON. ADAOZUBULU CRIES OUT, AS SHE CONDEMNS THE KILLING OF THE YPP CHIEFTAIN IN NANKA

A Human Rights and Gender activist, HON. LADY JULIET ANAEME ADAOZUBULU, strongly condemns the killing of A YPP chieftain.
The tragic incident occurred just hours after he organized a meeting for a female YPP candidate who is campaigning for an election rerun, such violence against women is utterly unacceptable, and we must ensure their safety and rights are protected .

We received with a heavy shock a deeply saddening incident that occurred in Nanka, Anambra State. It is with great concern and a heavy heart that we share the details of this tragic event.

On Saturday night, Chief Joe Mohale, the YPP Chairman of Nanka Ward 1, was brutally murdered for his involvement in organizing a meeting between Hon Princess Chinwe Nnabuife and her constituents in Nanka. This act of violence has sent shockwaves through our community and goes against the principles of democracy and peaceful coexistence that we hold dear.Hon Chinwe Nnabuife, a member representing Orumba North and South in the Federal House of Representatives, had shown immense courage in the face of threats and intimidation by proceeding with the scheduled meeting. Tragically, political thugs allegedly working for her opponent disrupted the gathering and opened fire on Chief Joe Mohale, mercilessly snuffing out a life and perpetuating fear and violence. We strongly condemn this heinous crime and call upon the relevant law enforcement agencies to act swiftly and thoroughly investigate this matter. It is crucial that the perpetrators and their sponsors are brought to justice to ensure that such acts do not reoccur. We also urge the security apparatus to take immediate action to prevent further escalation and ensure the safety of the public during the ongoing rerun election process. In this moment of profound sadness, i extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Chief Joe Mohale, as well as the entire YPP community in Nanka. My thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time. We stand in unity with Hon Chinwe Nnabuife and commend her unwavering bravery in the face of adversity. It is essential that we remember violence has no place in our political discourse, and we must work collectively to preserve the peaceful and progressive spirit upon which Anambra State is founded. We call on IG, Mr President His Excellency Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Sen Oluremi Tinubu, Minister of Women Affairs Mrs Ohanenye, the IG of Police, the Commissioner of Police Anambra State, the Executive Governor of Anambra Prof Charles Soludo, and the Senator representing Anambra South Senator Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Uba to rise and ensure the safety of women.
The perpetrators of this heinous crime must be apprehended and brought to justice.
