Ozigbo hails Obidient Movement, canvasses transformative change in Anambra

The Labour Party’s governorship candidate in the upcoming 2025 elections in Anambra State, Valentine Ozigbo, has commended the Obidient Movement for their endorsement and ongoing support.

Speaking at the 2024 Obidient Movement South-East Good Governance Symposium, held on Saturday, at the All Saints Cathedral Auditorium in Onitsha, Anambra State, Ozigbo lauded the movement for promoting crucial dialogue on Anambra’s future and the value of transformative leadership.

The symposium organised by the Obidient Movement in partnership with Anambra State Support Groups, with backing from the VCO Foundation and Naija We Can, the event provided a platform to discuss Anambra’s development trajectory and promote governance rooted in transparency and accountability.

Ozigbo expressed deep gratitude to the Obidient Movement and Anambra Support Groups for their steadfast commitment to positive change and thanked them for reaffirming their endorsement, initially granted in August 2024, of his 2025 governorship candidacy.

He said, “The endorsement by the Big 6, including the Peter Obi Support Network and Women for Peter Obi, marks a significant step in our shared mission to reshape Anambra."

He further criticised the current administration in Anambra, citing growing concerns about insecurity, social oppression, policy setbacks, and constitutional neglect.

“The people of Anambra are disillusioned and eager for meaningful change,” Ozigbo noted, while pledging to bring integrity, vision, and responsibility back to governance.

He described 2025 as a very important year for the Obident Movement, because of the Anambra governorship election which he is contesting for.

He said, "I have distributed a document titled, 'Ka Anambra Chawapu'. The document contains policies for a better, brighter and a more prosperous Anambra, which when implemented will ensure that Anambra is better off than what the state currently is.

"The people must come together to ensure that they wrestle power from the incumbent."

Ozigbo extended special thanks to his political leader, Peter Obi and to Dr. Tanko Yunusa for their guidance and steadfast commitment to the ideals of good governance.

He also acknowledged key organisers, including Dr. Mo Paul, Okon Lagos, Nana Kazaure, Ibrahim Abdulkarim, Ikenna Azomchine, Mazi Tochukwu Ezeoke, Dan Elombah, and others whose dedication made the event a success.

Concluding his address, Ozigbo called for unity and determination in the pursuit of a brighter future for Anambra, saying, “In Nigeria, we are Obidient. In Anambra, we are VALiantly Obidient,” supporters should join us in advancing positive change across the state."

The event featured prominent figures, including the former presidential candidate and Labour Party leader, Peter Obi, as the Special Guest of Honour, and a renowned political economist and former presidential candidate, Prof. Pat Utomi, as the keynote speaker.

The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr. Tanko Yunusa, served as Chief Host, with Prof. Stella Okunna chairing the occasion.
